There is a lot of football left to play. Hypothetically speaking, if MD were to win out, there likely will be computers that have them #1. They already have 3 of the best national wins in at STA, at Gorman, and at Bosco. If D1 is 8 teams, current matchups would be MD v Mission in round 1. Then MD likely plays Centennial in the semis, and the final would be either Bosco or Sierra Canyon. Then the state game is most likely DLS.  That schedule is a gauntlet. Computers will love it. Human pollsters won't forget MD shitting the bed with TOs versus Centennial or sleepwalking against SM.
If IMG beats SFA, some folks will crown them because they are fixated on having undefeated teams, even though their schedule is a joke.

Good points.  This year more than any prior is going to be really crazy going into the stretch. It would be very hard to now think of MD as the best team at the end of the year IF they were to beat all of those teams in a row.  Really hard.

Before reading your post I thought it would be crazy and funny to think about them getting the natty, but after seeing who they would have to beat I am starting to lean towards hmmmmmmmmmmmm.
