SJB was penalized 20 times for 156 yards. SM had 3 penalties for 15 yards.

SM had 270 yards of total offense, 70 of which came on that one long run from Mosley. Most of their offensive yards also came on drives that were extended by flags thrown on SJB. There were 5 defensive holding calls that went against SJB, at least 2 of which erased sacks that almost certainly would have led to SM punts.

They weren't trying to hide it at all and that was evidenced when the white hat picked up the flag on SM when a kid playing without his helmet recovered a fumble.

The current CIFSS playoff agreement is to use the current year CalPreps/HSRatings as the power ratings for determining the divisional playoff team placements (along with some additional requirements based on league placement and overall record for at-large qualifications). There is technically no set number of teams for the CIFSS D1 playoffs. The number of teams placed in D1 is up to the discretion of the SS playoff committee. In 2021, 2023 and 2024 there were 8 teams in D1. In 2022 there were 10 teams. I think theoretically you could see anywhere from 4 to 16 teams, though it will likely be somewhere around 8 teams (based on historical precedence).

This may have already been answered (I'm just now making my way through this thread).  The SS doesn't like having anyone but an automatic qualifier (not an at-large team) be the #1 seed in D-II.  It also seems that if they're going to add 1 "first round" game, they want 2 for balance.  Unfortunate that Inglewood got dragged into D-I last year because of Servite.

If the CIFSS D1 playoffs started today this is what the bracket would look like (assuming 8 teams in D1). Kinda wild to see SJB and MD on the same side of the bracket.

I believe the Trinity gets 4 automatic bids.  Assuming OLu loses to Servite this week, they could qualify as an at-large.  That should mean we will see 10 teams in D-I again this year.

Is Murrieta Valley currently the #9 team?  I don't have an hsratings membership.  If they are, they will likely be bumped to D-I and the 10th team along with them (at least).  According to Maxpreps, that could be Crean Lutheran.
