Quote from: Bodysurf on Nov 03, 2025, 07:39 PMThere can't be a double standard for leagues. What you are suggesting is the old system where leagues were placed in divisions before the season and only the top teams from each league made the playoffs. Using the logic that no TL should be in D2 is like saying no Mission League teams should be allowed in D3.

I am good with that.... That would be fine, Don't allow Mission League teams in D3.... Why does every team in a league have to make the Playoffs?.... If your not TL top 4 and can't Qualify for D1 then go home and get ready for Basketball and Baseball...

If you are a Mission League team and can't qualify for D1 or D2 by being Top 4 in your league then do the same.... There is no reason that a Team like OLU with a Losing Record and not even finishing Top 4 in a 6 team league needs to make the playoffs.... That's what I am saying.... 5 out of 6 TL teams made the D1 playoffs and JSERRA who was straight garbage this year, just missed D2... It's Stupid.... 🤣

I wouldn't call any of those TL teams garbage with the schedules they play. JSerra's worst team was either Damien or Oak Hills. OLu's worst team was Gardena Serra. If those are the worst teams on your schedule that is ridiculous!! I think JSerra would make a decent run at the D2 section title. OLU would steamroll through D2.

JSerra is Straight Garbage this year, They lost to Damien and Oak Hill is a D3 team.... JSerra didn't even play a competitive game in the TL, why on earth would they deserve any kind of playoff birth?.... 🤣

OLU is not garbage, but they have a losing record and won 1 TL game.... I don't see any reason why a 5th place team in a 6 team league needs to make the playoffs....

This is something that the CCS does to a certain degree across its 5 playoff divisions.  Given that the section is about 1/4 the size of the SS, the leagues are designated in 3 tiers: A, B, and C.  A teams are exclusively placed in D-I and D-II, while not allowed in D-V.  B teams can compete in D-III thru D-V.  C teams can only compete in D-V.  A leagues get the most AQs (usually 4), followed by B (usually 2), and C (1 only).

The SS could do something similar by establishing a floor and ceiling in terms of how low or high teams from certain league could be placed in a given year.  This could reward a school for that 'team of a decade' year, but not allow someone from dropping too far to smash less-established programs.  The placement of the leagues and/or the teams within it should be adjusted annually, but this would be a lot better than the old way of dragging weaker teams up just because of one good program.  Orange County already has a system of trying to place teams together of relative strength across the county.

This year, the SS has 2-8 Upland all the way down in D-6, when that's normally a D-2 or 3 team.

Quote from: AztecPadre on Nov 03, 2025, 07:49 PMNo way.  There has to be something more to the story.

People are crying rivers over this, but the real numbers are 2-1.  The SS set up this 4-team league with two AQs.  3 teams went 2-1 and the SS uses a silly coin toss to determine who gets the AQs.  RotW lost.

We all know very well that just about any team can set themselves up for an undefeated non-league slate just as easily as a winless one.

JSerra definitely had a bad year. For a last place TL team, that is. They would still beat 1000 of the teams in California and 14,000 teams across the country. I wouldn't call that straight garbage, but to each his own....
There are only (maybe) 30 or 40 teams in the entire country that would have a winning record with OLu's schedule.

You really need to look at the big picture with those two teams.

Apparently the big Picture is JSerra is Garbage because they just fired their Coach.... 3 TL wins in 3 years and trying to Compete for D2 just doesn't do it when you are a TL team and Nor Should it.... These Schools have big $$, JSerra's Coach makes over $200k a year.... That's D1 Money, Not D2 or lower level.... 🤣

Yes, they sucked this year......for a Trinity League school. That's like saying Florida and Auburn firing their coaches because they stunk it up in the SEC means they were straight garbage. I certainly wouldn't call those two garbage schools, nor would I JSerra. The TL is the SEC of high school football.

OK, My Bad, They are not Straight Garbage they just Suck... They gave up 40+ points to every TL Team, 60+ to OLU and 70 to SJB.... They were 3-7.... And I don't think any of the 3 wins were in your to 100.... 🤣

Hopefully with a new coach and better recruiting they can get back to a D1 competitive TL Level... 🍻

I don't think we've ever won a coin flip against Centennial!
