If Texas and Georgia can come up with a reasonable looking and solid Preseason Top 25 then California should be able to.

The problem with California is 10 or 11 teams are 250 miles ahead of everybody else in the state.

If the #15 Preseason CA team gets blown out OOS nobody even thinks twice about it.

If the number #15 Preseason team in Georgia or Texas, or even Louisiana gets blown up OOS it's a big f****** deal!

MaxPreps having a team like Oak Ridge, CA a Top 100 team nationally last year was a joke.
They're no better than Jesuit (NOLA)... .... I can throw out the well coached team card too.

No state Has a Reasonable looking Top 25 because no one knows who the 25 best teams in any state are.... We can all see that because there are so many polls now and they mostly all disagree with each other....

So is Oak Ridge your new Bixby now?.... Just because Max Preps puts them in their top 100 you are butt hurt?.... 🤣🤣

The teams i mentioned above, are programs that have consistently maintained that level.  You don't have to guess whether they'll be a Top 25 team.

Incidentally I spend a perplexing amount of time thinking about Hart (and Canyon) football 😂

What's your expectation for what a state's 25th best team "should" be like? Oak Ridge lost a competitive game to a top three San Diego team, split with the #1 team in there area (one competitive, one an ass-beating), beat the #2 team in there area, and had a "WTF" loss. That seems very typical for a team for a ranked in that range regardless of state - they're good teams that are going to struggle against the top 5-10 in their state, will blowout the bad to terrible teams on their schedule, but will be susceptible to the occasional bad loss/uninspiring win. The other option seems to be a team that runs roughshod over an easier schedule and never sees the true contenders in a state.

Nobody cares if a state's 25th best team loses to a similarly ranked team or higher ranked team from another state. The only time it would be notable is if that team beat a higher ranked team or got run over by a lower ranked team. In my opinion those teams shouldn't be scheduling OOS games as those rankings are very subjective and don't prove much in comparing one state to another.

California's Preseason Top 25 last year is probably still collecting FEMA money. The bottom half was a straight up natural disaster.

I expect Top 25 teams to win some damn football games.

Serra was Preseason #14.
Reality? 👇

https://www.maxpreps.com/ca/gardena/serra-cavaliers/football/

Again, if John Curtis or any other OOS team scheduled Serra and blew them out I'd have to hear about Serra sucking and is crap.
Insert yet another Top 25 team to take Serra's spot and etc all season long

This stuff really isn't that complicated.
I don't know why you people are struggling with it and making excuses.

If people have absolutely NO idea who the 25 best teams in the Preseason are in California just do a Top 15 then and call it a day.
My theory is you got about 200 or 300 teams in California that are exactly identical. 🤠🏈🤠

Serra would have been ranked 10th in Louisiana. Which isn't good football. Hell the number 11 team in Lousiana got a running clock put on them by the number 11 Mississippi team.

John Curtis didn't schedule a top 20 CA team that underachieved. They played the 60th ranked CA team who got twice as worse as evidenced by their 5 loss increase from the year before and ranked in the 100's after the season in state.

Quit trying to insert garbage Lousiana football where it doesn't belong

Who ranked Serra that high?! They graduated their starting quarterback (also their leading rusher) and top three receivers from a 2024 team that was merely "eh", and haven't had fewer than three regular season losses during a ten game season since 2015. The person that ranked them #14 was asking them to put together a better season than the previous while absorbing heavy offensive losses and not being a particularly astounding program to begin with.

And with that said why would Curtis EVER schedule a game against Serra? I called out Saguaro for playing them in 2016 when Serra was much closer to their zenith as a program and would be even more emphatic with that if a top five Arizona team were to schedule them now. Serra is a competent program that would be best served playing similar programs and not scheduling other state's elite ranks.

If Curtis is wanting to schedule a California team so badly there's the entire Trinity League, DLS, Centennial, Folsom, Sierra Canyon, and Mission Viejo that are consistently a cut above the rest. If the purpose of scheduling OOS games is for Curtis to get better and prove themselves on the national scene that's who they should be scheduling. If the goal is to give their kids a fun road trip then schedule one of the other 1000 teams in California and stop trying to use verbal ninjitsu to turn Serra, Inglewood, or LA Cathedral into something they're not.

MaxPreps had Serra Preseason #15, not 14. My memory isn't so good.

And forget I ever mentioned John Curtis or any other OOS team that plays one of these CA Preseason Top 25 imposters.
And the national rankings MaxPreps gives these impostors is ridiculous too but that's probably for another day.

It's just not clicking for you, Woody.

This clown was hyping up North Desoto on the old board because they played some garbage TX team.

In 2023 North Desoto needed a miracle to beat Center TX and then went on to lose to the Lousiana state champion by one score at the end in the playoffs. Center lost in the 1st round and their opponent scored 69 points. Lol.

In 2024, Center pounded North Desoto but then got rag dolled out of the Texas 1st round, while North Desoto won 10 games and went 3 rounds deep.

Center wasn't even top 225 in Texas alone.

That's what you get with Lousiana
