Quote from: Redzone on Aug 21, 2026, 10:42 AMJust name the Centennial QB who was going to light up Servite this year had they not got the Cathedral QB...... you said anyone could do it.

That's right, exactly what I thought.

Cya around!
Centennial just scored 9 points with the transfer QB against Mater Dei.

They scored a lot more last year without a transfer and beat Mater Dei both times.

Like I said after the Servite game, next man up

Obviously he's paying for you to come up with dumb nicknames and count posts.

Keep up the good work.

Quote from: 15yds4gibberish on Sep 09, 2026, 09:54 AMNice to see a DLS QB that can throw. His mobility helps. Can't help but think he's gong to need it when they play a team from the South (can't erase last year's state game fiasco from my retinas). The receiver, Dean (I think), also looks legit.

It's good to hear from you. I was hoping you'd show up.

DLS just played their best game of the season. It was over by halftime. The o-line finally made the run game work. The QB is looking increasingly comfortable running DLS's unusual offense. The receivers made some good catches. Dean had the catch of the night. The defense had St Francis going backwards. I think DLS has a chance against Cen10, though I've really only got half the picture before my eyes. The game in two weeks would be a lot more exciting if Cen10 had come out on top in these close games against the big powers from the South.

Definitely agree, it's crazy, Cen10 has lost to RSM and MD by a total of 2 points, missed XP against RSM and Missed a 26 yard Game winning FG against MD....

I watched the Cen10 vs MD game and DLS can definitely win against Cen10 but they will have to play their best game and make no mistakes, Cen10 has speed equal to DLS, the game will come down to which of the QB's can make the plays, Cen10 QB did not look good against MD, MD has no offense, rotating 2 qb's neither were very impressive, but Cen10 Defense looked good so maybe that had something to do with it....

This game should show us if  DLS has a chance to end the south's 9 year reign in the open. I really hope so because the games are so much better being competitive

BB (or is it AB now? ;) ),

Didn't see the game this week, so it's good to read your report.

Thinking I might go to the Cen 10 game in a couple weeks. It's hard to know what we might expect from this revamped DLS offense, and how it will hold up under pressure.  Have gotten pretty conditioned to the top teams from the south having athletes and execution everywhere, with O & D lines bigger and quicker than even an imaginary set of NorCal all-star O & D lines. These teams from the South all knew how to stuff the dive, and DLS was too overmatched to ever play the perfect game they needed to even have a punchers chance. Maybe this is the year the talent is spread a little more thinly across the Southland.

Having a mobile QB who can throw on the run could be fun -- Lord knows we've certainly seen DLS get beaten by mobile QBs enough times.

Honest question for the SoCal peeps...

Does it appear that the depth in the SS isn't what it's been for the last several years?

Folsom beat Mission Viejo
Oak Ridge beat Crean Lutheran
Pittsburg was up on St. John Bosco at the half and the Braves never really pulled away, nor dominated.

I don't think this is a banner year for NorCal, either.  NCS is maybe 3 teams deep (DLS, Pitt, and CN), SJS is maybe 3 (Folsom, OR, and Rocklin), and the CCS only has Serra this year.

Yes, at the top there appear to be four very good SS teams (SM, MD, CC, and SC).  Does it look like SJB is really in the same class as those 4?

Seems this could be a year where the SS cuts off D-I at 8 teams again.

It appears to me that MD and SJB are down slightly from previous years while a team like Sierra Canyon is on the rise.SM is still very good but not as much as at the end of last season. If DLS is even 10% better than last season then I believe we have a competitive open game.Centennial will tell us a lot

I was skeptical that DLS was really going to be significantly better this year, but so far so good.

That said, St. Francis isn't all that good, in my opinion, and I'm unsure which Cardinal Newman is the real one:  the one who took Folsom to OT and blew out Riordan or the one who got clobbered by the Spartans.  If they're one and the same, then that looks good for DLS.  Serra played them really tough, though.

Also, anticipating the CC game.

I think Bosco is in the same tier as those teams but we don't have an elite team.  Bosco has all the tools but their offense IMO is lethargic and the play calling leaves a lot to be desired.

I haven't been impressed with MD or Cen10 so far, at least to their usual standard. SJB should be the best team this year, but they have obviously not yet played to that standard. I think part of the issue with SJB is that they have no real backup to Koa at QB and Negro has been quick to take him out of games when he is able to. He took him out late in the 2nd quarter against Roman Catholic when they were up 35-7 and the offense immediately stalled under Jr. QB Aiden Marchetta. SJB didn't score and Roman hung around and kept it uncomfortably close until the 4th. They brought Koa back in for a series in the 4th quarter and they immediately scored. The obvious risk is that if Koa gets injured you are looking at a very different team, so I think they are trying to mitigate that potential scenario as much as possible and make sure he's healthy for Trinity League and the playoffs.

The start to the Gorman game was horrific, but it was also a week zero, OOS road game in 100+ degree heat - so not really ideal conditions to start a season especially against such a formidable opponent. I was impressed by the adjustments SJB made at halftime and they were clearly the better team in that 2nd half. If Gorman and Bosco played again today I would probably take Bosco, but obviously a loss is a loss and very little weight should be given to a hypothetical rematch.

It was a similar story with the Pittsburg game, with SJB turning the ball over twice in the 1st quarter on an interception and a fumble and Pittsburg going up 14-0 quickly off of those turnovers. Dominate is a strong word, so I will concede they didn't dominate Pittsburg, but they very clearly controlled the game after going down 14-0 off those two turnovers. They scored 26 unanswered points and the entirety of their 4th quarter offense was 6 handoffs to Maliq Allen, 1 check down pass to Allen, a defensive PI call and kneeling down on the Pittsburg 15 yard line with 1:43 left. Again, hypothetical but the final score could have easily been 38-14 if SJB played more aggressively in the 4th quarter, but a win is a win at the end of the day. Yes, optics are optics but in the grand scheme of things winning Trinity League and the playoffs matter much more than the final MOV of the Pittsburg game. If Koa can stay healthy and SJB stops spotting their opponents two score leads off of early turnovers I think they should be favored to win every game the rest of the season - including hypothetical playoff matchups against Cen10, Sierra Canyon and DLS.
