For all the non buffoons. I'll say it just one last time.

Newman is NOT #13 in (NOLA)- complete bullshit!

Believe it, or don't believe it.

Quote from: Redzone on Sep 10, 2026, 08:09 AMMaxPreps does have good information especially since Calpreps went subscription on us. But their rankings are terrible.

How many examples do you need or want? I can go all day.

Here's a quick one.

MaxPreps has Celina #20 in TX.
They're not even currently ranked in the 5A polls, Dave Campbell's anyways ....... they are considered the gold standard in Texas.

Let me know if you want or need more

Anyways, back to Santa Fe Christian/Newman.
Dave Campbell has St John's (Houston) #10 this week (dropped) in their Private High School poll which includes ALL the Private High Schools in Texas.  That was a pretty good win for Newman. Unexpected in my head.

That's the only reason I think Newman might be a little competitive tonight.

Last year the #1 Private School in Texas finished #23 in Texas per Maxpreps.........

I have no idea how this year is going to play out.

Yeah right.  Easton, Mandeville, Vanderbilt, Terrebonne, Thibodeaux etc etc. these teams are garbage!!!

Imagine these teams playing good OOS teams. Jeez. You thought top 5 Catholic getting 60 plus in 3 quarters put on them was bad.

It is cool. Not often can you get 2 teams that are only one ranking apart in their metro area.

13th New Orleans vs 14th San Diego.

Gonna be a good one!!!!

I clearly asked for end of season rankings, not some mid-season ranking that means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things. Comparing a partial data set to a person/group of people's subjective opinion is not an apples-to-apples discussion.

Aside from yourself, who has ever claimed that Dave Campbell's rankings are the "gold standard" in Texas? Possessing the ability to publish a comprehensive preview magazine for over 50 years and a dynamic, weekly ranking across 7-8 alignment conferences are vastly different skill sets; we had a guy out here that made a Dave Campbell-esque preview mag for 25+ years and his preseason rankings were frequently out in left field (he'd rank a 4-6 team with 15 starters back over a team that beat them 42-0 but only had three starters back), and the one Dave Campbell mag I have in my library (2008) gets pretty loopy in spots as well (i.e. Allen ranked 14th in 5A preseason just ahead of a 15-1 campaign).

Local rankings are by and large a mixed bag; Sondheimer with the LA Times has been a walking punchline for years among SoCal fans, and the so-called "voice of authority" on the Arizona high school ranks is a guy that was previously the primary beat writer for the Diamondbacks, was very publicly caught plagiarizing in that role, and was demoted to the preps beat in lieu of termination. These "experts" are almost always guys whose first focus is on journalism in general (they'd have no issue writing about politics or movies if that was the opportunity in front of them), sports second (the paper of record out here used the prep beat as a farm system to the pro and college beats - do well writing about the inspiring story of a double-amputee pitcher and you might get full-access to the Suns/Cardinals/Diamondbacks locker room), and high school sports last. You're championing one obviously-flawed methodology because you agree with the end result of it over another obviously-flawed methodology.

He won't cause he's not being realistic.

During the season there's fluctuation with MaxPreps that a lot of rankings won't agree with, but at the end of the year it's very good for in-state rankings per division and if there's enough connectivity for the entire state(Texas lower division teams cause problems here because there lower division teams don't play the higher division teams).

Just to be clear though.
I'm being told now that MaxPreps regular season rankings are shit and only the final Maxpreps rankings matter

Is that what your buffoons are really rolling with now?

I want to be clear before I make people look very very stupid yet again

I literally said end of season results in my first response to you. You're the one that couldn't follow those basic instructions.

Funny story.

I remember in 2018 when TAPP Bishop Dunn  finished #12 at MaxPreps in Texas.

Bishop Dunn played 2 Louisiana teams and Desoto for their OOC schedule....Decent OOS schedule.

Anyways, CE Byrd (Shreveport) beat Bishop Dunn. CE Byrd was an above average Louisiana team ranked #27 here by Maxpreps, I believe

The normal buffoons on this forum all claimed MaxPreps sucked because CE Byrd beat Bishop Dunn.

"There's no way in hell Bishop Dunn is #12 in Texas" they all yelled....." they are a low class TAPP (that's private school for you dummies)" , they yelled.

Y'all make up your damn minds.

My senior year Peoria Centennial started the season 3-0. Were ranked fourth in the state for Class 4A going into the fourth week of the season.

In that fourth week we lost 31-7 to Sunrise Mountain, went 1-6 the rest of the way and missed the playoffs.

Phoenix Sunnyslope was never ranked higher than seventh in the state (went 9-1 with a weak schedule) but scored a second round playoff upset and advanced to the semifinals.

It would be really stupid to say that Centennial had just as successful of a season as Sunnyslope since at both teams' peak they were both top four teams. Yet that's the argument your All Rankings Matter viewpoint supports.
