[1. Massillon]

A number of unexpected starts to this season after three weeks in. Perennial powers Hoban and Pick Central, who are certainly not lacking in the talent department, are both off the 0-3 starts. PC looks particularly bad and has be unable to even put a TD on the board. That being said, they've already played the three best teams (by far) on their schedule and could easily win the next 7. Hoban is in a bigger bind as they still have Ed's, Walsh, Cardinal Gibbons (NC), Glenville and Cathedral (IN) in the coming weeks. Then we have the apparent resurgence of St. Ignatius, one of the state's most prestigious programs that has been a shell of itself since the retirement of Chuck Kyle. The Wildcats should probably have won in week one against Avon and would be sitting at 3-0, but they have rebounded and picked up a nice road win over Pick North and absolutely destroyed Mentor over the weekend. Will be nice to have the Holy War actually mean something again.

Here's how I have it:

1. Massillon (3-0; beat NFL Academy 21-16) - I didn't expect Massillon to just blow this team out of the water. NFL Academy has the full faith and credit of the actual NFL, and it will be interesting to see how this program improves in the years to come. The Tigers played them pretty conservatively with a heavy dose of Savior Owens and were up 21-10 late in the game before NFL put one more score on the board. Next: vs. Canisius (NY) on 9/11.

2. Bishop Watterson (3-0; beat Ursuline 41-10) - The Watterson defense surrendered their first points of the season this year, but this game was never in doubt.  They will be put to their biggest test of the season so far as they play host to an explosive Glenville team this week. For those unaware of the ongoing saga with Glenville, 11 of their players were charged with theft-related offenses after looting a Dick's while on their week 2 road trip to O-Lib. The school announced a two-game suspension for those involved but, apparently, will not be sitting the players until they start their city-league play in a few weeks, which will consist of a series of running-clock blowouts. Welcome to student discipline and accountability in the year 2026.  Next: vs. Glenville on 9/11.

3. Princeton (3-0; beat Colerain 49-6) - Princeton will have another layup this week against Sycamore, but is set to host Lakota West in week 5 for what should ultimately determine the GMC champions.  Next: vs. Sycamore on 9/11.

4. Elder (3-0; beat East Central (IN) 42-7) - I could be selling this Elder team short at the moment, but they just haven't played anyone to date to gauge just how good they are. I don't expect that to change this week against LaSalle, but the weeks after will tell us mroe. Next: vs. LaSalle on 9/11.

5. Walsh Jesuit (2-0; beat TCC 38-25) - Statement win for Walsh after not getting to play last week with the Springfield forfeit. The Warriors are for real under head coach Nick Alexander who has been building a perennial contender there since his hire. Battle of the Jesuits this week as they host Ignatius, a game which will really tell us if Iggy is back.  Next: vs. St. Ignatius on 9/11.

6. St. Edward (3-0; beat Huber Heights Wayne 48-21) -  No doubter of a game from the jump, the Eagles looked very balanced in their offensive attack and dominated in the trenches. We knew it would take a bit for this offense to find its identity after graduating some prolific offensive skill guys, but if they can do what they did against Wayne to the other teams on their schedule then a return to Canton is not out of the questions. Will be interested to see if they can put in on a reeling Hoban team this week, who is certainly desperate for a win. Next: vs. Hoban on 9/11.

7. Lakota West (3-0; beat Mason 35-10) - Like their GMC counterpart Princeton, the only chance for a loss (barring a massive upset) the rest of the regular season is next week.  Next: vs. Hamilton on 9/11.

8. Upper Arlington (3-0; beat Avon 43-22) - The Golden Bears make their top 10 debut this week with a convincing victory over Avon. Avon is certainly down from the past two years, but still a solid team. I jumped UA over Gahanna Lincoln at the moment because GL's week one thrashing of Pick Central is looking less impressive by the week. Next: vs. New Albany on 9/11.

9. Glenville (2-1; beat Football North (ON) 37-21) - Glenville also jumps into the top 10 this week after losses by Moeller and TCC. If they can find a way to beat Watterson on the road this week then they could rocket up considerably. Next: @ Watterson on 9/11.

10. Gahanna Lincoln (3-0; beat O-Liberty 14-13 (OT)) - Gahanna hangs on to the final spot after the OT win at Liberty. Liberty's 0-3 record is very deceiving with losses to Ed's, Glenville, and now GL. This was good road win, and although I suspect Moeller and perhaps TCC may be better, I'll give them the nod this week. Next: vs. O-Orange on 9/11.

Others: Moeller, TCC, Big Walnut, Winton Woods, Anderson, St. Ignatius, Pick North, Trotwood-Madison, Canton McKinley, St. X, Avon, Wadsworth, Hudson, Nordonia, Hoban

Like your candor with Glenville & jumping UA in the top ten. I think they are the team to beat in central OH this although a couple others stalking along.

It was actually a preseason claim based on the fact that Hoban started top 15 in Ohio and West Orange wasn't even top 80 in FL.

Also Hoban has lost to teams that would clean up in Lousiana. Hell Rummel was 10th in Louisiana and they lost to the 93rd ranked FL team Eacambia. Zachary was 9th in Louisiana and they lost 53-0 to 4 loss Deerfield Beach.

Were those good wins for Escambia and Deerfield?

2 top ranked Lousiana teams lose by a combined 88-44 in the only relevant OOS games of the year: it's an embarrassment. Louisiana NEVER gets a marquee win. Never.

The NY team Hoban barely lost to is currently the 2nd ranked team in New York.

The NFL Academy has proven to be very competitive with nationally known teams

West O should go 10-2 or 10-3 and finish top 40 in FL


All 3 of these teams would be top OOS teams in Louisiana and Red Flag would have made a dozen threads about them .

I know nothing about that NY team. Is it a private school? Sports academy school? Do they have a talented roster? I was pretty stunned by the loss and figured it was probably the second easiest game on Hoban's schedule.
