[1. Massillon]

Some surprising 0-2 starts for the year with perennial powers Hoban and Pick Central yet to chalk one up in the win column. I expect Hoban to get off the snide this week. Pick Central will be hosting rival Pick North this week and they need to avoid an 0-3 start. North dropped one at home to St. Ignatius this past weekend, a big win for the Wildcats under first year coach Tom Kaufman who were a couple dumb late penalties away from beating Avon in week 1.

1. Massillon (2-0; beat GlenOak 54-7) - Expected blowout this week against GlenOak. This weeks matchup with NFL Academy is far more  intriguing.  The game will not count in the OHSAA standings, but rest assured this years Massillon team does not want a blemish on their record. NFL Academy has solid wins against Marietta (GA) and Hoban and seems to be on an upward trajectory as a program. Next: vs. NFL Academy 9/4.

2. Bishop Watterson (2-0; beat Pick Central 28-0) - Statement win for Watterson with their second shutout of the season, this time against a fellow Columbus powerhouse. BW has a real claim for the top spot in Ohio this year, and while we're far away from playoff talk, D2 R7 is looking like a meatgrinder with Massillon, Watterson and Big Walnut. Next: @ Ursuline on 9/5.

3. Princeton (2-0; beat Middletown 28-7) - Princeton RB and LaSalle transfer Jordan Hall added two more TD's this week after a huge week one game against Moeller. The Miami (OH) commit is picking up power 4 offers now and the Buckeyes may join the fold. Taft transfer Monsanna Torbert (Michigan commit) also had a big game with over one hundred rushing and passing.  Next: vs. Colerain on 9/4..

4. Elder (2-0; beat Covington Catholic (KY 56-20) - Senior signal-caller Kaden Estep shredded CC for nearly 400 through the air and over 100 on the ground. He's not the top college QB prospect in the state, but he might be the best football player. Next: vs. East Central (IN) on 9/4.

5. Walsh Jesuit (1-0; forfeit win against Springfield) - In a weird turn of events, one of the top games in week two was cancelled with Springfield notifying WJ very late that they could not make the trip due to an "illness" that had apparently made its rounds through the team. Was very interested to see how WJ would handle an athletic Springfield team after crushing Highland in week one. That question should be answered this week as the Warriors will host TCC. Next: vs. TCC on 9/4.

6. St. Edward (2-0; beat Canton McKinley 22-8) - Ed's has been relying on the defense these first two weeks after replacing nearly all of their offensive playmakers from last year. They have been up to the task, surrendering only 12 to O-Lib and shutting out McKinley who scored their only points off a pick 6 and safety on a botched punt snap. The offense is a work in progress, and Lombardo has been relying on the legs of senior QB Langston Lucas a little too much for my liking. They go on the road this week to Wayne who is off to an 0-2 start, but gets 5-star WR Jamier Brown back this week after serving a two game suspension for an undisclosed NIL deal. You can bet he will be looking to make a big statement, and the St. Edward secondary will be tested. Next: @ HH Wayne on 9/4.

7. Moeller (1-1; beat Groveport-Madison 45-7) - Moeller shrugged off the loss to Princeton and took care of business against an overmatched Groveport team. Huge game this week on the road in Louisville against Trinity, who has scored 50+ the past two weeks against Anderson and Christian Brothers (MO). Next: @ Trinity (KY) on 9/4.

8. TCC (2-0; beat Portage Central (MI) 24-14) - Slow start against Portage but finished strong. Big road test this week that will help sort out the pecking order in D2. Next: @ Walsh Jesuit on 9/4.

9. Lakota West (2-0; beat Lakota East 48-18) - Offense came alive against rival East in a dominating win. This ranking may be too low if they can produce like that moving forward.  Next: @ Mason on 9/4.

10. Gahanna-Lincoln (2-0; beat Springboro 24-7) - Gahanna is in the driver's seat in R3 at the moment with Upper Arlington nipping at their heels. They are on the road this week in one of the better Columbus area games against O-Liberty. Liberty will be looking to avoid in 0-3 start with losses to Ed's and Glenville the past two weeks. Liberty started 0-3 last year before going on a run and giving eventual D1 champion O-Orange all they could handle in the playoffs. Next: @ O-Liberty on 9/4.

Back from being a laughingstock, yes. Back to the Ignatius of old, we'll hold off on that for a moment. Took in the Mentor-McDowell game last week. McDowell was better but Mentor just kept hitting big passing plays to keep them in it. Worst Mentor defense I've seen in a while and their o-line is a sieve. Can't run the ball at all.

Agree... Louisville Trinity is the real deal. Should definitely be in the Top 25. 'Rocks are for real.
