This ass clown has been planting the seeds of doubt so much that he thinks it's supposed to cushion the blow when all the top LA teams get lumped up!!
I did.... reality is they might if every other team knocks each other out. Carrollton IMO is a top team but they're not a national championship team.

Yeah, they need a lot of teams to lose and need to win out. That is gonna be a tall order.

Quote from: Wooderson on Sep 01, 2026, 09:28 AM...so they return an average (if not somewhat above average; returning 15+ starters every season is not the norm) number of starters from a team that was able to put together a quality season last year (the team they play in their opener has all of one season with more wins than what Newman had last season).

Santa Fe Christian is the only team that there's no argument that they're "good". St. John's has a long, glorious history of being mid and doesn't have anything particularly compelling on this year's roster that says things should be different. Bonnabel had what was far and away their best season of the Maxpreps era but appeared to be very senior-dominated (I say "appeared to be" as most Louisiana schools don't make this easy by inputting stats into Maxpreps; based on who had significant highlight videos on Hudl their best guys were seniors).

...so sight-unseen he signed his team up to play OOS games that they have no shot at winning? I've seen some aggressively stupid program-building moves in my day so it's not out of the realm of possibilities but it's not remotely believable.

Outside of the Mannings Newman has produced a three-time Pro Bowler, an All-Big 10 receiver, and a college football Hall of Famer. Beyond football Newman athletics has produced an 11-year NBA veteran and a would-be Olympic sprinter that sat the 1936 Games out instead of paying tribute to the worst guy ever. IMG they are not and you're probably correct in saying nobody goes to Newman to play football but it seems like they've had more than a fair share of elite athletes pass through there.

No matter how much you want to diminish this Newman is going to be representative of Louisiana when they play St. John's and Santa Fe, for better or worse. Stop trying to dull the worst case scenario by overhyping the mid OOS teams that one of your mid teams decided to schedule.

You just don't get it, Woody.

But yeah, Newman even won a state championship in baseball this past year. I got no problem saying Newman was probably a Top 20 baseball team in NOLA.this past year.

I never said Newman was a crap School. They have had some damn good basketball teams too and some other sports..

I think we can all agree that North Shore and Carrollton are much better than Desoto.

Desoto and Grayson would be a good game this year.

No, we can't.

Northshore would get destroyed by Aquinas as well.

Sure!

And Creekside, GA would have hung 70 on North Shore last year like they did Desoto too

It's all good, skip..

North shore had 41 put on them by SOC. It's not far fetched to think Creekside would've put 50 on North Shore last year

Here's the Curtis/North Shore stream. 👇
Expecting some very bad weather in Lafayette Friday especially during the afternoon. Hopefully is eases off before kickoff and there's no lightning.

Curtis wins 23-17 is my prediction.
Curtis has a secret weapon this year it's called a passing game. Will catch North Shore by surprise.

My honest predictions for the 4 OOS games

North Shore 34, Curtis 20

Carrollton 49, Catholic 24

Alexandria 27, Bryant 21

St John's 30, Newman 20

All Carrollton has to do is run out and beat Buford in the state championship game and they'll be your MNC for 2026...... they will get a piece of it anyways.

Hopefully Catholic can at least make them play 4 quarters......no one else has this year so far.

Catholic has some good players and they're scrappy.

Not making any excuses for Catholic, but this will be Carrollton's 3rd game of the year. They are already just about clicking at mid-season form. Of course the first 2 games for Carrollton were running clocks.

Season opener for Catholic and theyvare expected to make some mistakes and they are starting a rookie QB. He did look pretty good in their Jamboree.

Advantage Carrollton

BUT,

Carrollton has to travel close to  9 hours to Baton Rouge.
I believe this is the furthest Carrollton has ever traveled for an OOS game. Maybe they travel like Desoto.

Advantage Catholic

Louisiana High School football officially kicks off tonight.
Only one pretty good game.

#5 4A Madison Prep (Baton Rouge) vs the 5A Jesuit Blue Jays (NOLA)

Madison Prep big, strong and fast
Jesuit always one of the best coach teams in the state.

Madison Prep plays in the same playoff bracket as St Charles Catholic, Archbishop Shaw, U-High, Carver and etc. >
D2

Jesuit, of course plays in the D1 bracket.

D1, D2, D3 and D4

Should be a pretty interesting game really.
