And Baton Rouge Catholic put the running  clock on Alexandria in the D1 Select playoffs.

Like I said, skip, who cares?

Mop, skip, Mop!
I want this forum cleaned.

Interchangeable teams that's all they are.

No different between Augustine in 2022 and 7 other teams.

A bunch of mid tier football teams that can beat themselves.

The way you use Daisy Chains is humorous. You have 13 different versions of how you use them

I've grown tired of kicking you, skip.

Hit that spot right over there to your left with that mop

Quote from: Redzone on Aug 31, 2026, 06:29 AMMy Louisiana Preseason Top 10

1-Ruston
2-Alexandria
3-John Curtis (NOLA)
4-St Aug (NOLA)
5-Edna Karr (NOLA)
6-Catholic (Baton Rouge)
7-Southside
8-Archbishop Rummel (NOLA)
9-Central (Baton Rough)
10 St Thomas More

Got Some Votes In My Head:
Monroe Neville
Acadiana
Destrehan  (NOLA)
Brother Martin (NOLA)
Barbe
Jesuit (NOLA)
U-High (Baton Rouge)
Dunham (Baton Rouge)-no team benefited from the transfer portal more than 2A Dunham and 3A U-High
Dunham is led by a 5* QB (#1 QB nationally) committed to Alabama. Dunham has 6 or 7 really great players, but not much depth. But as we have seen this weekend 4 or 5 players can change the game

Did Not Receive Any Votes In My Head:
Newman 🤣

The Louisiana Sportswriters just dropped their Preseason polls.

Newman sucking wind, like I said 🤠
I never lie on this forum.

Dunham could be the real deal though. They play Catholic (Baton Rouge) this year and I'm very interested in that game.
I've talked about the 5* Dunham QB, but he's 6'5 230 lbs and he's a playmaker..

Class 2A

School, 1st rec, points

1. Dunham (9) 0-0 130

2. Calvary Baptist (1) 0-0 116

3. Mangham (1) 0-0 105

4. Oak Grove 0-0 97

5. Notre Dame 0-0 81

6. Kinder 0-0 55

7. Catholic-New Iberia 0-0 47

8. Lafayette Christian Academy 0-0 44

9. Amite 0-0 43

10. Loreauville 0-0 30

Others receiving votes: West St. Mary 28, Newman 23, Union Parish 22, Country Day 8, Ferriday 3, Mansfield 1.

3 of the last 4 years they were top 5 in their class. The other year they were 7th. So conventional wisdom would say that the postseason rankings will look a lot different in a couple months!

Both these teams are in affluent areas and have all the resources needed to compete. They both have about 400 students in the high school, and are both top 20 in their metro area.

This game should go down to the wire. Anything less than a one possession 4 quarter war will be an utter embarrassment to the loser

Do Louisiana schools make a habit of scheduling two OOS games during supposed down years?

Newman returns 8 starters from last year's 7-3 team.
Newman lost to every good team they played last year.
Newman will lose to every good team they play this year too.

Newman has a new head football coach and he was quoted in their 2026 preview "playing OOS teams is trending". Maybe he's trying to build something, I don't know what's in his head.

Kids just aren't going to Newman to play football so it doesn't matter whatever is in his head .

It cost between $35,000 and $45,000 to go to Newman and that will always be Newman.

They have a beautiful campus in the Historic Garden District with lots of nice stuff though .

It's very difficult taking Newman seriously in football most every year. They've had some competitive teams in "2A", but they have never played in a state championship game.

"Second Baptist is 44th in Houston alone. And Newman is top 20 in metro New Orleans."

Cool, Newman is not playing  Second Baptist.
Newman is playing St John's Houston who's probably a Top 15 team in Houston. St John's already clubbed Second Baptist this year. 😮
Again, this is if MaxPreps is your Bible.

Houston has over 100 high schools playing football.

The shit I got to put up with on this forum is unholy

Santa Fe Christian is now #9 in San Diego.

Hot Rod Lincoln sucking win. I thought they used to be good.
Of course I thought Helix was good at one time.

No what I'm saying is if the 44th Houston team that's not in the state top 200 can give St. John's a  4 quarter war, Newman should be able to as well

...so they return an average (if not somewhat above average; returning 15+ starters every season is not the norm) number of starters from a team that was able to put together a quality season last year (the team they play in their opener has all of one season with more wins than what Newman had last season).

Quote from: Redzone on Aug 31, 2026, 08:32 PMNewman lost to every good team they played last year.

Santa Fe Christian is the only team that there's no argument that they're "good". St. John's has a long, glorious history of being mid and doesn't have anything particularly compelling on this year's roster that says things should be different. Bonnabel had what was far and away their best season of the Maxpreps era but appeared to be very senior-dominated (I say "appeared to be" as most Louisiana schools don't make this easy by inputting stats into Maxpreps; based on who had significant highlight videos on Hudl their best guys were seniors).

Quote from: Redzone on Aug 31, 2026, 08:32 PMNewman has a new head football coach and he was quoted in their 2026 preview "playing OOS teams is trending". Maybe he's trying to build something, I don't know what's in his head.

...so sight-unseen he signed his team up to play OOS games that they have no shot at winning? I've seen some aggressively stupid program-building moves in my day so it's not out of the realm of possibilities but it's not remotely believable.

Quote from: Redzone on Aug 31, 2026, 08:32 PMKids just aren't going to Newman to play football so it doesn't matter whatever is in his head .

Outside of the Mannings Newman has produced a three-time Pro Bowler, an All-Big 10 receiver, and a college football Hall of Famer. Beyond football Newman athletics has produced an 11-year NBA veteran and a would-be Olympic sprinter that sat the 1936 Games out instead of paying tribute to the worst guy ever. IMG they are not and you're probably correct in saying nobody goes to Newman to play football but it seems like they've had more than a fair share of elite athletes pass through there.

No matter how much you want to diminish this Newman is going to be representative of Louisiana when they play St. John's and Santa Fe, for better or worse. Stop trying to dull the worst case scenario by overhyping the mid OOS teams that one of your mid teams decided to schedule.

Did you see in the Columbus/Bishop Gorman thread red flag randomly posted that Carrollton is gonna win the MNC? This ass clown has been planting the seeds of doubt so much that he thinks it's supposed to cushion the blow when all the top LA teams get lumped up!!
