Lufkin hasn't been relevant in the upper echelon of Texas football in 20 years.

Curtis played them in 2014. Almost a decade after being relevant(2006 was the last time they were a top Texas team).

This would be like playing Long Beach Poly in 2018 and claiming they scheduled a Cali power.

It was embarrassing to even mention them. 6-5 on the year. 72nd in Texas alone.

And the crazy part was the game was a one score miracle nail biter at the very end

Lufkin beat (9-3) Longview 44-14
(12-2) John Curtis  beat Lufkin 32-27.

You can always do the educated thing and pull up Lufkin's 2014 season. You will see they lost some total heartbreakers, but of course > you don't know anything about it.

Louisiana is one a few unique states where it's popular to brag that your top 5 teams plays and sometimes beat teams ranked in the 70's, 80's and even 100's in their state. Like it's a flex for them. Craziness

Lufkin is a nobody in Texas football today. They weren't a power in 2014 either.
