It's amazing how weak the playoff fields have been in these first two years. Mostly because of the two auto-qualifiers, but also some weak selections otherwise.
Miami and A&M are looking like similar level teams.

Let's hope the kicker doesn't miss again. Miami deserves this game.

True. I just think 12 teams is too many for a playoff. And there are teams who could've done damage by winning a game or two that were left out.

How about that 2022/23 American Heritage offense. Mark Fletcher, Malachi Toney and Brandon Innis all on the same offense  :o

In the end,  it was the SEC that didn't deserve 4 bids.

The sideline reporter who just interviewed Cristobal is a smokeshow.

You can say that. But then you'd have to ask 'What would the record be for a team who lost to SMU and at home to Louisville and has only one win vs a current top 25 team if they played an SEC schedule?"

With the mega conferences leading to schedules more difficult than ever before seen in college football, outstanding teams can have multiple losses. If placed favorably in the schedule, with home field, Florida could absolutely beat Miami. Florida finished 12th in the SEC. If Miami had to play any of the top 12 SEC teams on the road, any of those games could be a loss. If Miami ended up 8-4, instead of 10-2, they don't make the playoff...

A&M schedule was awful. They played two ranked teams.

Notre Dame
Texas

South Carolina
Arkansas
Utah State
UTSA
Auburn
Mississippi State
Florida
Missouri
Samford

I think Miami can navigate that schedule probably undefeated. A&M had one ranked win.

1) schedules within the two mega conferences vary wildly in degree of difficulty
2) being able to beat all the teams on the schedule- even being outright better than all the teams on your schedule- rarely translates to 0-1 losses. Mater Dei, St. John Bosco, Santa Margarita, Bishop Gorman all were capable of beating all the teams on their schedules. None of them made it through undefeated, and the first three all had multiple losses. There's a cumulative effect on teams when almost every week features an opponent who's really good and really desperate to beat you. It's when a team has an off-week-due to breaks, preparation, fatigue, injuries etc- that they take losses.

The team's you mentioned all played top teams, which were each other.

In this scenario, we know who A&M played(Not Georgia,  not Alabama,  Not Oklahoma etc),  and their schedule sucked because of it.
