Last year National Power Venice, FL lost to (7-18) #303 Riverview.

https://www.maxpreps.com/fl/sarasota/riverview-sarasota-rams/baseball/24-25/schedule/

You say that's pretty bad.
Venice swept a little three-game California series including beating National and California Power Corona last year.

Venice is currently #2 in the nation at MaxPreps. If they were to shit the bed a game or two nobody's going to even care if they put together the resume and have the talent which obviously they must have.

Venice will play in several National tournaments this year

Quote from: TheOC89 on Mar 13, 2026, 07:28 PMNot all teams play in every tournament.... Example, the Boras Classic which is a west coast tournament doesn't have teams from the south or east coast so winning that tournament is Great but is doesn't make you a "National Champion"....

In College you go through regionals, super regionals and College World Series.... High School is jay the winner of an Opinion Poll... Not a Championship win on the field....

In college baseball you can win a National Championship/World Series with 20 or more losses.

In 2008, when Fresno State won the College World Series they had a whopping 31 losses.
In 2022, Ole Miss had 23 losses and won the College World Series.

You cannot win a MNC In high school baseball with 31 losses

Why can't you people understand this?

In 2024 when Catholic (Baton Rouge) won the MaxPreps National Championship Stoneman Douglas, FL finish #5 at MaxPreps.

Stoneman Douglas lost to (11-17) #211 Killian 1-0.
National Power Stoneman Douglas should have been disqualified from Top 10 consideration, right?

MaxPreps had St John Bosco #3 last year.
St John Bosco lost to (14-14) #147 Damien 3-2.

Whatever a Lousiana team did is the correct criteria in his mind. Even lose to the 144th ranked FL team. Lol.

Quote from: Redzone on Mar 13, 2026, 07:19 AMNot really.

It's all about beating the very important teams on any level.
In high school winning a couple of national tournaments normally bodes very well.

I get everything I that's being said. I know it's hard to go 40-0 with a challenging schedule. What I'm saying is if you lose to the 144th ranked FL team who went 13-13 on the year THAT should disqualify you!!!

Just that alone should make a team ineligible

Quote from: Redzone on Mar 09, 2026, 09:51 PMThe new $20 million dollar stadium will break ground later this year.
Will be pretty nice and have a capacity of 5,000.

Carver High is located in the 9th Ward of NOLA ....it was totally decimated during Hurricane Katrina taking 12 ft of water.

The 9th Ward is also home to some of the scariest gangs in the nation. You don't want to fuck around down there too much. In fact, if you don't have any business in the 9th Ward it's best to stay out of there.

Anyways, they're hoping this new stadium and some other projects will bring a sense of community to what really is a depressed area of NOLA.

As far as the actual football team this past season they went 7-4 and ranked 158th in Louisiana per MaxPreps.

Back in the day Carver was pretty decent, actually beat John Curtis a couple times. Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk prepped there.

9th Ward Stadium

As I was reading this I kept thinking there was someone famous who came out of there. At first I was thinking a rapper, but then I saw Marshall Faulk and remembered that's who it was.  Crazy dangerous down there.

Quote from: Reb72 on Mar 10, 2026, 07:16 AM$2,940,000 for the practice field

the new Sports Medicine facility was $4,000,000

The new West Monroe High School Athletic Training Room is a 7,500 square-foot facility designed to serve the comprehensive sports medicine needs of West Monroe High School's student-athletes. The central treatment area will offer an atmosphere that promotes recovery and well-being, flooded with natural light. The room will be complemented by training tables, plunge pools for aquatic therapy, and multiple exam rooms, allowing for a wide range of rehabilitation services.

That is quite impressive. Especially for a high school. How does something like this get funded?

No college baseball teams are expected to go 60-0 in a season.

No high school baseball teams are expected to go 40-0 in a  season.

Start a freshman pitcher here or there, bring in a freshman out of the bullpen, play the backups a game or 3 and whatever else during the course of a long grinding season.

States are irrelevant.

Note: @Reb72

What's up with West Monroe this year?

8-9 #33 In Louisiana?
