Last post by DreadnaughtAlum - Jul 16, 2026, 12:02 PMI lived there for a year in 2001-2002. It's grown quite a bit since then of course. But, my favorite area right in Austin was the south/west of downtown area. I think it was called Zilker. Generally, westerly areas- like where Austin Westlake H.S. is are best as they are in or near the hills. Northwest of Austin in the hills and along Lake Travis (which is really a river or resovoir) are the most scenic, "California-esque" parts of the state.

I think there's 4-5 teams aside from this group with as much or more talent than Liberty but there's a level of safety with the Lions that isn't there for those other squads.
Desert Edge is absolutely loaded but might not even have a top 500 schedule.
They have 5 teams from TN in the top 100. Not completely sold on BGA just yet. I think their ranking is a bit too high. They need to earn it first. Problem is, they play in the weaker of the private divisions. Not many chances to prove it. They do play Milton,GA this year. Could be a good game, although it's not the usual Milton powerhouse.

They kept upping and upping the offer to convince me and they just did it. I have no clue what I am getting my self into by moving there, but first off where are the nice neighborhoods in and around ATX and besides Austin Westlake who can I become a fan of to follow for the next 10 years?I like the city of Austin myself.

Last post by Cal 14 - Jul 15, 2026, 11:55 AMQuote from: Wooderson on Jul 11, 2026, 03:36 PMFollowing up, as I just wrapped up my proper vacation and am properly planning the next road trip.
I'm looking at Airbnbs in Orange County and surrounding areas and am seeing a good number of listings in Costa Mesa, Santa Ana, and Fullerton. In general is one area "better" than the other? Not terribly concerned with commute to the game (we visit San Diego annually and if it were just wife and I we'd commute in from somewhere in north county and stick with what we're used to) and aside from game might do a beach trip if feasible. Obviously there's no guarantees one way or the other but I want reduced odds of being adjacent to a crack house, meth den, or low-rent whorehouse (we'll listen to a high-rent one).
I live in Huntington Beach. Feel free to shoot me some addresses in DM and I can relay what I know about those neighborhoods. Some spots in Costa Mesa are nice. Not so much in others. HB is generally going to be ok. Same with Fullerton. As stated, partially depends on what you want to do outside of seeing the game.

I think in reality the three Arizona teams are more likely top 35 teams but I think there's legit arguments for all three to be where they are.
