I believe Lakeland had the ball inside AHP territory on each and every possession of the game, but the great athlete/poor passer QB threw three picks, one of which was returned to the 1 yard-line. In the second half, Lakeland got smart and threw only quick, short passes with only one exception. They've got a good OL with good talent on the perimeter, they just need to be smarter about throwing the ball. If Bill Castle was coaching this team, they may well have been good enough to compete for the Open title. But, as is, I don't think they deserve to be in the playoff even if they get by The First Academy. I think they needed to be unbeaten given their toughest games are at home. The reasons they might make the playoff are Carol City's forfeit and the South Florida teams'tough schedules (both in state and OOS) leading to more losses. If they get lucky and find a way into the playoff, I hope they stick to the second half approach vs. AHP. They would've beaten Venice had they gone that route...

Nice to see a Florida person actually posting something about Florida.

The other Florida poster (Blade claim) here is as useless as tits on a boar.

What 8 teams do you think will make the Open Playoffs at this point of the season......AHP has to be a little wobbly.

AHP will win out from here...which means they won't be in the top 8.

Locks:
STA
Columbus
West Boca, assuming a possible loss to SJC doesn't knock them out
Chaminade
Venice

I would've thought Central would be a lock, but the rankings say otherwise right now and I expect them to lose to Carol City.

Carol City's forfeit of a game they won by running clock will probably keep them out.

Lakeland has to beat The First Academy to get in. They squandered a two-TD lead last year and lost in OT. TFA had a 17-point halftime lead vs IMG which was impressive even if they caved in the 2nd half. Not sure off the top of my head if TFA is eligible for the playoff.

The 8th spot is probably wide open, and likely will be a team who's not up to the challenge, unless Carol City somehow makes it. If CC makes it in as the 8th seed, I predict they will knock off STA in an upset special.

Too bad they couldn't play Pulaski or Brandon.

Post Louisianas top 100 wins the last 15 years.

Florida has 4 this year alone. I'll give you a head start. St John's, Legacy and Louisville are NOT top 100.

Go!

It started way early, I only found a cell phone stream on youtube for the last minute of the game. SJC does look to be better than in recent years.
