QuoteThe Gaels led Lone Peak 35-14 with 9:25 left in the third quarter and were driving. An altercation broke out on the Lone Peak sideline after a long Gorman completion, and more than three Knights players came off the sideline and onto the field.

According to Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association rules, if more than three players leave the sidelines during an incident, the game is ruled a forfeit. The officials ruled that Lone Peak violated that and no one on the Gorman sideline went onto the field.

Interesting since Lone Peak is not under the jurisdiction of the NIAA wonder if they have any consequences in Utah?

I would think this rule was brought up to Lone Peak before the game (like going over ground rules prior to a baseball game). Lone Peak wasn't going to win the game anyway, but be nice to play a whole game.

An Absurd way for a ball game to end. Fans & players alike deserve better.

I'm on the fence with this rule. The ref said if more than 3 players go onto the field then its an auto forfeit.  My question is we're these kidslike charging the field to presumably do some damage.  Or we're just kind creeping out in a non aggressive way. Alls I know is back when I was in school there we're skirmishes pretty much every game where most the team came on the field to protect their teammates who might be in a tussle incase the other team or guys charge in. My whole career in baseball from high school to college and so on, you would get fined if you didn't go onto the field to backup whoever it was. Maybe im a few too many clase azul extra sips and I'm just rambling. Deuces

Kind of weird because the altercation was on the Lone Peak bench. How do you come off the bench on your own bench? Maybe some kids not in the game involved themselves

Losers in this one?  BG was dominating but the record will show 2-0.   Sounds like Lone Peak had emotional control issues earlier in the game as well
