I really hate the John Curtis announcers, but they made the trip and will be live streaming from San Juan Hills High School.
Don't know what to expect from John Curtis making this Week 1 trip to California..... but they will be running the veer.
https://www.youtube.com/live/lY3obwSN8d8?si=yR3BXykFljqztEel
The 6th ranked LA team against the 58th Cali team who had half a hundred put on them by a desert school. Definitely an upgrade over garbage teams like Santaluces and Lake placid. But still embarrassing
John Curtis lost 6 games last year..... last time that happened was in the 1960s.
No one really knows here what to expect from Curtis.
I have John Curtis Preseason #4 in the NOLA Catholic League.
John Curtis will be starting a new QB this year. They may play two QBs. That much is certain.
Anyways, looks like San Juan Hills football stadium is surrounded by hills and mountains. Looks cool.
I'm sure the Curtis kids are enjoying that trip.
If JC doesn't win by a large margin it would be a bad look for them

That's true. I think they will only because JC schedules meticulously always in their favor. They won't face much pushback.
After his state champion teams getting their shit kicked in by Euless Trinity and St Thomas Aquinas back in the day, he has been really selective. So just the game being scheduled means JC should be the heavy favorite

Prove me wrong. Who are these nationally known teams who could push back?
What's funny is John Curtis was in a 4 quarter war with some no name Mississippi team a few years back when they were the consensus number 1 team in a Louisiana. Lol. I'm not sure if the MS team was top 10 in their state. And it was a 1-2 point game.
That's John Curtis' speed
Been a change.
The California CIF won't let Curtis stream free and the game will be streamed at the NFHS Network.
That's really a bummer. I don't pay for streams.
Sheesh!
I hope I'm proven wrong and the team who let Beaumont Tumbleweed put 50 on them plays a better more competitive game
John Curtis 13 Cathedral 0 1st early

He's lying. He desperately wanted this to be a quality game because Louisiana doesn't play any good OOS games hardly ever. Just AHP and that's with what some believe is the best team in their state history. Louisiana is small ball
40-19 Curtis @ Halftime

Because Louisana is subpar and irrelevant and Red Flag tries so desperately to make it work and it doesn't.
Picayune MS is up 27-0 over NorthShore LA and (0-1) Dallas Jesuit is up early on (1-0) New Orleans Jesuit.

I
A Charlton Co fan posted the thread. That's his team. He posted a thread for his team every week on the old site. Why shit on people who aren't into all the national hoopla and just love their small hometown team and want to highlight them? You gotta be the only person in history who has a choice to be a dick or be a decent human, and you ALWAYS choose being a dick!!
10-1 means they were thrown out of the 1st round. Maybe the 2nd if they had a game canceled on them.
This was an embarrassing matchup for Curtis. Straight up punching down against a random obscure team just to feel better about winning against an OOS team not matter how bad. Pussy
So far Red flag posted game threads for Louisiana teams against a team not in the top 60 in CA and a team not in the top 200 in TX.
This is how bad the OOS games are for for Louisiana.
Mississippi won the 2 games last night with metro New Orleans teams. Picayune beat North Shore and Pearl River beat private Pope John Paul 34-16.
John Curtis set a school record for yards rushing vs Cathedral...... only attempted one pass.
Whew! 👇
"The historic effort saw Curtis set a school record with a whopping 654 yards rushing on 51 rushes, averaging 12.8 yards per rush.
Senior Jakobi Boudreaux shined, rushing 11 times for 218 yards and four touchdowns. Senior Gavin Ledet added nine rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns and quarterback London Padgett rushed 10 times for 107 yards and a score.
Padgett attempted just one pass, completing it for nine yards."

They were a D3 team last year that lost their only playoff game by two TD to something called Bonita.I don't know who reached out to who but if it was JC who reached out it's embarrassing
Edit:
Curtis explained that the promotional group behind the California Classic had been looking to extend an invitation to the Patriots to take part in one of their events.
All of the logistical elements finally aligned for this season, and the fact that the Patriots were able to play in the first game of the first day made it more advantageous, Curtis said.
What's embarrassing in St John Bosco scheduling Eastwood (El Paso, Texas) 2 years in a row.
What's better?
John Curtis bearing CA #66 Cathedral 56-26
or
St John Bosco beating FL #81 Manatee 31-0 (game called)
Lowndes County, GA beating FL #81 Manatee 42-7
Anyways, that said.
No one here really knows how good John Curtis is. They had a losing record going into the playoffs last year (5-6)..... They won two playoff games with one huge upset win.
They may lose 5 or 6 games this year....
When he seen the opponent his eyes lit up like a lightbulb. Another bad OOS team to play. When you are at the level of Curtis football you should not be playing teams like this. It's embarrassing. The amount of sub par football Lousiana agrees to play is staggering

Bosco scheduled it because the Eastwood coach agreed to come twice and it was basically a schedule filler with it being so hard to find games. SJB has played better teams in the last 2-3 years than the entire state of Louisiana has in the last 10. Not an exaggeration.

QuoteThe search for 2024 high school football games started in November, El Paso's Eastwood High football coach Julio Lopez said.
"There was an agency I was talking to, and they were talking about getting us a game with St. John Bosco or Mater Dei. But then the guy kind of ghosted me," Lopez said laughing. "I started getting nervous because I was telling other schools I had a game for (the weekend of Aug. 30)."
St. John Bosco coach Jason Negro was looking for games, too.
"I thought, 'you know what? - what's stopping me from reaching out to these schools myself?'," Lopez said.
And so, he did.
"I get an email in February from Eastwood High. A school I'm not familiar with, but I gave him a call," Negro said. "We ended up talking for 30 minutes. Coach Lopez was familiar with our program, and he wanted to challenge his players."
"I love that mentality," Negro added.

I hate that mentality. Lol. It's not a "challenge". A challenge is something that is tougher than normal, but it possible to achieve. What the Eastwood coach did was trade visiting some buildings in a different state in exchange for his kids getting their skirts lifted and embarrassed by 60 twice. A memory that will stick with them for the rest of their lives. They won't remember some boat or statue. They will remember getting the shit kicked out of them. I think wasted blowouts are the worst thing about OOS games.

He desperately seeks attention even if it's negative. It's sad. Louisiana for the most part is irrelevant nationally. That's not being subjective. When you have been apart of any national HSFB board no one speaks of Lousiana football except him. There have been a few posters from there that speak about their team but that's normal. They don't even talk about the state. Just their team and opponents.
Point is no one gives this clown any attention, so he desperately tries to get it and will use any absurd and brain dead info to get it. Trying to hype up freaking Beaumont. LMAO! It would be funnier if it wasn't so damn sad and pathetic

Later, dudes.
I wonder who ghosted coach Lopez.
Just a Quick Look. Cathedral hasn't finished in the top 50 in the state in 10 years. Their best finish was 68th.
They have had a history of mediocrity. Literally no tangible evidence that would suggest that they would be any better than the norm for them this year. And the fact that you can go 10-1 (9-2 on the field losing to Narbonne) and end up outside the top 65 in state proves how bad the schedule was.
Curtis knew all this. Hes a pussy who likes to beat up on outmanned and outclassed teams

San Juan Hills, CA #14 👇
Prior to this year, and you posting about this game, San Juan Hills was an unknown team. They're at least playing a team that's not routinely at the very top of their state. Cathedral was just blown out by Beaumont and you're telling people you expected better from them 😆.
Cathedral (Los Angeles) was Preseason #11 in this California poli and they were highly regarded in several other polls.

It's not my fault they didn't live up to the hype and we're garbage. Blame the people making your polls in California.
The week prior, they were blown out. They were down 30+ in the 4th to a desert team.
Cathedral was Preseason #11 in California, 10-1 last year, returned most of their team.

That's the team John Curtis traveled 2000 miles to play. They could have just played a quality Mississippi team

It's not my fault they didn't live up to the hype and we're garbage. Blame the people making your polls in California.
The week prior, they were blown out. They were down 30+ in the 4th to a desert team.
Cathedral was Preseason #11 in California, 10-1 last year, returned most of their team.
Anything other than that! 👇
Take all that up with someone else
No they were not 😂 that poll you posted was a Los Angeles area poll.
Hmmm, ok. .. throw in one team from Northern California and one team from San Diego if you have to or want to.
That said> Metro Los Angeles has a population of over 13 million people.
😂
So there's only two other teams in the whole of California better than cathedral?

You think Folsom could beat Cathedral?
Be nice, Redzone. 🤔
How about just answering the Question
You think there's only two other teams better than cathedral in the whole of California?
I don't know anything.
I need the hillbilly from Tennessee to rank the Top 100 for California to set me straight......
So back on the old site, Red Flsg posted a few threads about some top 30 Louisiana team playing a NOT TOP 800 Texas team. Some Holy Cross teams. And this was not 800 nationally. This was not top 800 in the state!!!!
So when you use that context, Cathedral vs Curtis is his national championship game. LOL!
Look at Red Flags first post after finding out DFB beat Lousiana top 10 Zachary 53-0. And then compare it to how he views Curtis playing Cathedral and them losing to Beaumont

Looks like Zachary will move to 0-2 on the year.
East Ascension put 525 yds of total offense and 40 points on Zachary last week.
East Ascension was crushed last night by Haughton. lol
Who cares about this game other than Big Loser W/nothing and a couple of trolls?
Other than STA's win is this Florida's BIG OOS win this year?
Congrats. You are slightly better than East Ascension.
Please tell us there's more..
So red flag tried to downplay Louisiana top 10 Zachary for losing to East Ascension, but hyped up cathedral losing to Beaumont
Talking about pretty mountains or some stupid shit. Lol.
This clown is a hypocrites that has no shame

Maybe I should do that for you. You have no idea what you talking about when it comes to Lousyana teams, let alone teams in California.
BTW, a swamp turd Cajun calling me a hillbilly is hilarious.
I see Cathedral (Los Angeles) kicking that ass in the D4 playoffs.......
Cathedral has won 5 of their last 6 games and definitely hitting their stride.
Let's go!

...14 years ago Westlake was playing DLS for the California Open State Championship.
In the 2011 CIF State Open Division Championship, Concord De La Salle defeated Westlake (Westlake Village) 35-0. This marked De La Salle's fourth state bowl win and third in a row since the Open Division began. De La Salle's defense shut out Westlake, which had reached the game with a 14-1 record, while its offense scored multiple touchdowns in a dominant performance.
Final Score: De La Salle 35, Westlake 0

DLS only loss that year was to the 12th ranked FL team 3 loss STA. It was STA's 2nd worse team in a quarter century only behind the 2013 squad who beat state champ John Curtis by double

Poor Gaybob813..... still searching for ANYTHING to try to make his pecker larger. Can't be done Gaybob813.
John Curtis won a 3A state championship that year. John Curtis also lost to 4-loss 5A St Aug and Leonard Fournette that year..... Archbishop Rummel beat St Aug and Leonard Fournette in the 5A state playoffs. Imagine that.
John Curtis is not racking up the 5A state championships like they did in 4A, 3A, and 2A.
I feel sorry for you, Gaybob813. No one, I repeat NO one tries harder than you.
Truth of the matter
No one cares STA beat John Curtis 27-13>>>>12 years ago.
I just made the point that I've heard of some of those teams in the D4 playoffs after seeing what Cathedral was up to these days
And like it or not Cathedral is in the D4 playoff. I hope they win it.

Westlake was 10-1 this year. My guess is they are about the same as when DLS played them in the Open State Championship. 🤠😭🤠 Ha!

The landscape of California High School football has changed dramatically.
Nowadays, if you don't have 35 D1s on the roster you are irrelevant and booted down to D2, D4, D7, D10 or D-whatever.
Be nice, Redzone
In 2011 when DLS played irrelevant Westlake for the Open State Championship St John Bosco was 8-4 losing games to Loyola, San Clemente>teams like that.

What you can't make up is how little you know about CA HSFB.... Loyola is D5, Back when they beat SJB they were a D1 Contender every year then the School Deemphasized FB and SJB rose to prominence and Loyola became.... Wait for it.... Irrelevant.... But somehow beating a D5 Loyola team who is 5-5 this year is the same as beating Loyola when they were a top program in So Cal... 🤣

But they're not. What they do have is a 1-0 record against Louisiana. That must make Louisiana HS football a Southern California D5 or D6 playoff teams on a good year.
