Title: Massey Has Bixby, OK #2 Behind Mater Dei
Post by: Redzone on Sep 01, 2025, 07:41 AM
Not that I'm crazy about the Comp Poll, but Massey definitely should be kicked out of it.

Bixby, OK at #2 is just really bizarre.
This is exactly why most people that post on the Louisiana Forum don't give a crap about national polls.

If I had to guess, it looks like they are getting credit for beating Owasso 49-21 twice. Once that is corrected,  I would assume that would drastically affect their ranking.

Screenshot 2025-09-01 075436.png

One nice thing about TheCompPoll is that it serves as weekly snapshots of the various rankings - something that neither HSRatings/CalPreps nor Massey ever provided. Last week Massey had Bixby at #11 - very much arguably still too high but much more reasonable than #2. The other thing you have to remember about algorithm-based rankings is that they do rely too heavily on preseason rankings early on and they tend to get better as they get more in-season data - although you can probably say the same thing about the human made rankings as well. 🙃

Massey also has Jenks, OK at #25 Nationally.
It's probably been a couple decades since anybody's even mentioned Jenks, OK
They were 8-4 last year.

This is the internet and people will believe what they want to believe.....I guess!

Think I'll work out a Top 25 National Poll with teams I like so far. A lot of states haven't even started yet so I may wait a couple weeks.
Bixby and Jenks won't be in my Top 25.

It's hard to have a Comp Poll with red and green apples.
Massey is a green apple
If all the apples were red you might have something.

Honestly, I think having both red and green apples is the perfect argument FOR a comp poll.

The BCS was the same way and the inspiration for the HSFB comp poll - the BCS had 2 human polls (AP and Coaches) and 5 computer algorithms (one of which was Massey). Obviously having a playoff and settling a winner on the field is a much better system, but that will likely never be a realistic option for HSFB.

That's all good, but they're only 136 FBS teams.
and over a 100 of them have no shot ever of making the playoffs..

They're over 15,000 high schools playing high school football.

And well over 14,000 of them have no shot ever of a MNC.   ;)

But jokes aside, from my perspective, the scale of HSFB is only an argument for including algorithm-based rankings as part of a compilation poll.

I don't know what the exact number would be, but the POINT is probably 500 teams OR nore have a legitimate shot of making a Top 25 High School National Football Poll...... some of the things stopping that from happening are Bixby, OK and Jenks, OK.........

The Navy Seal Team Top 30 was so in-depth it took me 8 or 9 weeks to decide on just 1 team sometimes. It was much too complex and complicated for even me.  I'm still working on that poll from 2013  or whenever I did that. 😀🤔

My new poll will just be teams I like .....like everybody else does. The only thing is I don't think anybody watches more games than me. Sometimes I don't always finish the entire game, but I watch enough to know what's going on normally .

I don't care about no one

Bixby is legit. Not #2 or 12 legit, but a top 25-35 team right now.

That's what we're hearing. A once in a generation type team.

What are you talking about? So much internet drama,

In the Maxpreps era East St Louis, IL is 18-21 in OOS games with some of the ugliest losses in OOS history. Even Evangel Christian, La traveled to Illinois a couple years ago and beat them.

In the Maxpreps Edna  Karr has played 1 out of state game. A 10:00 a.m. game in Texas after a hurricane. Karr lost 4 games that year.

Some teams get more chances than others, right spunky?

And Bixby and Jenks are still crap!

Right, them and 500 other teams that have 4 or 5 good players and play s*** schedules every year.

Mount Carmel, IL Is legit!

Who was that mega-talented  California team just a couple years ago (2023?) that got running clocked by American Heritage Plantation, FL? Los something,  I forget.
I remember it being pretty damn ugly on ESPN

They had their chance though.

Karr is Louisiana's top team again. Louisiana in top show case games(Against a top 5 team from a power state and nationally ranked in the top 25)hasn't won in many many years.

Who cares? You just keep moving the goal posts every year.  every year.
Ruston, La beat Top 10 Longview just last year 21-10 at Longview..
Texas is the #1 state for high school football.

Remains to be seen if Karr is #1 in Louisiana. You said last year Ruston was #1 in Louisiana after they beat Longview and I told you they might lose a couple games here.
They lost 3  freaking games including being running clocked in the state championship game 41-0.

Baton Rouge Catholic should be very good this year. They have some really nice looking athletes, lots of teams do here.

..  steeler01 said the same thing about Longview QB Haynes King. Called him garbage , crap, shit and etc. The normal steeler01's routine that doesn't change from year to year. He's a "dumper"...... . dumps on everything not California.

Haynes King is probably the best dual-threat QB in the ACC.  One of TOP dual-threats in the nation actually ..

Huge game vs Colorado this past weekend. Stats below don't lie 👇
Of course steeler01 praised the QB for Ohio State  who is from somewhere in California. Dude didn't do s*** but stand there the entire game.
