Title: DeSoto-STA, per Massey
Post by: DreadnaughtAlum on Aug 23, 2026, 11:57 AM
Massey has every right to decline to offer ratings and predictions based on those ratings. They can say it is too early, not enough data exists etc. But, they do no such thing. They offer both ratings and predictions based on those ratings. Further, all of the other teams in the vicinity or on the schedule of DeSoto and STA are also rated accordingly. STA is the top rated Florida program by Massey. By predicting a blowout loss to DeSoto, it implies all of the other Florida teams would fare worse against DeSoto. Will Massey be proven right? If not, will there be a meaningful correction to their value judgements which drive the ratings?

I doubt it. Values are assigned by programmer(s), and they significantly impact ratings beyond what one data point shows. Massey assigns extra value to teams in Texas (since teams from neighboring states have played Texas teams over the years, teams from those states also benefit) compared to Florida. Much the same way the old calpreps ratings did so for California teams. The underlying assumptions may be right, ot they may be wrong. But, they significantly impacts the ratings regardless.

I said Desoto 42-17 multiple times already. They are one of the most balanced teams in the country, and nationally top 5 for sure. I would maybe put BG, SFA and IMG above them now.

But we know you're either trolling, or are caught up in some weird anti-Florida phase. And we know you won't acknowledge being wrong, either. So that's nice.

Seriously. Being number 1 in FL doesn't make you automatically better than every team. So just because they can beat Mooney and Western does NOT mean they are gonna beat Desoto.

STA can get away with winning in FL vs FL teams no issue. But in OOS games and OOC games they fell flat. Giving up 38 to a team who Edgewater beat 42-7 is concerning.

Simply put I don't trust them in this game. I hope I'm wrong. Desoto can match them at every position. They are loaded on offense. Even more loaded on defense. STA hasnt played a team with this much talent since Mater Dei.

Desoto has no weakness. National top 5. Soon to be 16-0 state champs and national number 2 to Bishop Gorman

That gay troll says some of the dumbest shit.for attention. If the puke green Avatar wasn't enough.

If STA doesn't win by 2 or 3 TDs they'ere not the team I thought they were this year.

STA has already played two games, the game is in Florida, and this is the most talented STA team in their school history. STA probably has 5 or 6 NFL players just in the senior class alone.

Desoto lost 3 games last year and they probably lose 3 or 4 this year. They traveled to Georgia last year and gave up 70 points. One of the worst OOS losses in OOS game history.

Desoto is loaded. Especially on defense. This is not the same team that lost to Creekside.

Desoto beatCreekside 70–0 2 years ago. Creekside comes back and wins 70–28.

Before the second game it would've been easy to just say, they are the same teams so Desoto should just murder them again

Desoto will be pumped, playing carefree ball because the "experts" aren't giving them a shot. STA will play with all the pressure and make mistakes.

42-17

The worst part of it is gonna be all the people pretending to be shocked and look at this like some monumental upset when people with clear eyes and a sober mind knew all along.

Aquinas should be favored by 10-14 IMO.

Desoto is a top 5 Texas team entering the season everywhere and they probably breeze to the 5A championship

He thinks because he went to some Rivals site with some guys and their D1 offers they have to be the most talented. It's just laziness and proves how uninformed this clown is.

I think he hates football to be honest. No one can act like the world's biggest piece of shit on a message board and still love football. He is literally here to troll and make everyone's experience as miserable as he can.

The only silver lining is every single people who spends 2 minutes on any message board he frequents, knows he is a cancerous troll. Lol

No, but it does mean you're better than 99.9% of the teams in the entire country.

If you don't count IMG, then the top FL team would be in the 10-15 range annually.

So if there is 16,000 plus teams, I'm assuming that's 99.9 percent. Lol

Well, yes, they would be #2 overall (behind IMG). #2 in FL is still a powerhouse team that should be ranked 5-15 nationally in most years. So, with that being said, it is not farfetched to think STA is a top 10 team nationally.

They do have the potential. I would say being in the 15-25 range right now where they should be if they beat top 5 Desoto, I would vault them into that 10-15 area. And an undefeated season would secure a top 5 final ranking in my opinion

The London NFL Academy game is an odd outlier, and I'm skeptical about comparing scores with that particular team. And, if your comparative scoring with Edgewater was valid, Lakeland would've hammered STA. Your comparison suggests Edgewater was much better than STA, and Lakeland won by two TDs at Edgewater in the playoffs. Of course, we know that's silly.

No one should take your commentary on Florida OOS games seriously.

STA went 9/15 for 160 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT between 2 quarterbacks against the 68th ranked FL team.

Maybe they ran it every down. Nope. 26 carries for 211 yards between 8 guys.

They didn't score an offensive touchdown until the middle of the 2nd quarter.

And this I'm supposed to believe they are gonna beat Desoto who is loaded at every position?

It's like you are picking apart Statistics and specific games t fit your Narrative that STA should lose.... You sound like RZ and prepping us all for the next Louisiana Failure or Great win over a 6-6 D3 CA Team.... 🤣

Only TX fans think DeSoto will win this game.... And yes, there is always the Chance that STA lays an egg, that can happen it's HSFB.... I have STA by 7 they will be by far the Best Defense that DeSoto will play.... Should be an awesome game!!....🍻

You just type stuff on here and want people to believe it's true.

Carry on, dude

I agree. You do that. Hype up bad wins only you brag about. There was 5 different threads about Curtis playing 6-6 not Cali top 100 Cathedral. You sounded like they won the Super Bowl.

Your top 2-7 teams in Lousiana beating Legacy and Cathedral was some tremendous wins in your book. It was sad and pathetic.

I was leaning STA, but those numbers are terrible. Lol. Now I'm leaning STA by 14.
