Title: 1988 Permian vs. Dallas Carter
Post by: DreadnaughtAlum on Jun 18, 2026, 08:39 PM
if you're a HS football aficionado, this is among the most significant games of all-time. Something something Friday Night Lights. But, like most of us, the only knowledge you have of the game is what you read in a book, or saw in a movie. Here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQ4ul8ECHQM) is the actual game.

One of the reasons why I loathe the movie is that they turned what was in reality a rock fight in the rain into some 2010s Big XII shootout in a dome. Doesn't seem like this was a necessary change to get Odessa on board with making the film.

Yeah, it's rather odd, really. A rock fight in the rain is more dramatic and intriguing anyway!

The game in the movie was way more exciting. LOL
