Lufkin became a household name the year they beat Louisiana State Champion Evangel Christian 24-14.

They are finally getting a new stadium after all these years. That's pretty cool

I don't know what the capacity will be in Lufkin's new stadium, but 👇
Flashback 2001.
Evangel Christian still has one of the best OOS wins in OOS history.

More than 12,000 at Lufkin Stadium to witness 2 National Top 5 teams.
Lufkin went on to win 5A State in Texas (highest class) losing only to Evangel Christian.

This was the OOS game of the year in 2001.

Enjoy!

So Evangel just by themselves have lost to 11 out of state teams during their 6 State Championship seasons including against 7 Texas teams. (The other 4 being against Arkansas and Oklahoma teams)

So besides Lufkin and Midland Lee from 2000-2001, what are all the other times where a Louisiana team beat a UIL State Champ?
