Title: Monroe Tornadoes vs Colquitt County Packers (8/22/2025)
Post by: Rufus69 on Aug 20, 2025, 08:02 AM
My bunch of poor, tiny, little undersized Hawgs hosts Monroe of Albany this Friday night in the Hawg Pen.  Although most gurus have the Packers favored, rest assured the Tornadoes will play us "tooth & nail".  Last week, they were handled solidly by Thomas Central...which didn't help the Colquitt cause.  They'll have something to prove and we could end up facing their wrath...if we're not fully ready to go.

A LOT of people are calling this a "trap game" for my Hawgs.  Our game immediately following Monroe is.....North Gwinnett.  And I can say with CONFIDENCE that the NG game is circled on the Colquitt calendar.  The "little dogs" are fastly becoming a legitimate rival.  BUT...first things first.  HC Hoon says we won't be overlooking Monroe.  He swears it.  I believe him.

Time to Hawg Up !!!!!

Monroe is angry from last weeks loss, and needs someone to take it out on. And they need payback on Colquitt for last year. That's a double whammy.

Everyone puts their pads on the same way and laces them up one cleat at a time. When toe meets leather anything can happen. Colquitt better be ready to play 48 minutes and not a second less!!!!

I totally agree.  I heard we might have an extra RB for the game.  I'm not sure how accurate that is.  I'm fine with it as long as Jae is 100%.

If Colquitt is lucky enough to build a comfortable lead in the second half, then it might be wise to rotate a lot of bodies to get in game experience. Because it is going to be all-hands-on-deck in Moultrie the entire season!!!!

Honestly, HC Hoon and staff do a pretty good job getting the 2nd tier guys game snaps.  Colquitt plays a TON of kids on any given Friday night.  And that pays dividends throughout the season and into the playoffs.  Our only downfall...in my opinion...is at QB.  We need to play our backup QB guys more than we do.  But I'm sure Coach Cooper and HC Hoon are on top of it.

I think you guys play some garbage Florida team this year, so everyone who suits up will most likely play. The backups will play more than the starters. Concessions will be closed at halftime since everyone will be heading for the exits.

We host Rickards of Tallahassee this season.  Probably for Homecoming.  That's assuming we have enough players for that game.  The BAD news is....after Monroe we travel to Suwanee to play North Gwinnett and then to Leesburg to play Lee County.  That'll be Armageddon 1 and Armageddon 2.  But like I posted....FIRST THINGS FIRST...we hafta find a way to beat Monroe tomorrow night.
Time To Hawg Up !!!!!

Well Durn....Just Durn....

Monroe    0
Colquitt    0
God         1 Trillion

Game was called due to weather.  Colquitt asked to play the Tornadoes on Saturday.  The Tornadoes declined.  The game was CANCELLED completely due to different classifications.  At best, my poor, tiny, little undersized Hawgs will play a 9-game regular season.  I'm not gonna say this sucks...OK, OK actually I am.  THIS SUCKS !!!!

So, maybe we get to travel to Suwanne on the 29th to play the North Gwinnett Bulldogs.  I mean, if we can remember how and where to line up.  I guess it's like what Ms. Violet constantly tells me....

"It ain't how you start, Rufus....it's how you finish".

Flush this one...and back to work....................

Colquitt County was going to win this game 60-0.
It sucks for the younger freshman Packers who were going to play the majority of the second half  🤭

RZ, secretly...between you and me...and nobody else....I do think Colquitt would have "prevailed"...but we'll never know.  You understand how football is.  You get yourself into a rhythm and you don't like to disturb it.  Our team will need to flush this thing from Friday night and move FORWARD to compete against a really good North Gwinnett squad.  And of course, we hafta travel 4 hours one-way next Friday afternoon to do it.

This game will not be for the weak.  It will be the proverbial...knock'em down - drag'em out.

The GOOD news?

Hopefully, we'll be somewhat healthy and my poor, tiny, little undersized Hawgs will be rip-roaring and ready to go.
