Huge upset! I thought Raines seemed awfully good for a team who was assumed to be beaten by 40 again. Really great, enertaining game!
Was it just me, or was the NFHS audio and video not quite in sync? The audio was a second ahead of the video for me.
Raines (14-0) crushed their schedule this year. It was a pretty weak schedule though.
They did beat Lake Mary 51-3 and I believe Lake Mary is playing for a state championship tomorrow.
Good for Raines and Jacksonville.

Scoring with 10 seconds left on a terrible missed tackle by the DB.

Miami Northwestern also threw a 90 yard Pick-6, had several penalties, missed several other tackles and etc.
But guess what?
That's football.
It never ceases to amaze me just how negative you are about everything.

Negative?
Calling out a bad play is negative?
Telling us how Bixby is crap all season long is positive though.

When Bixby does something impressive I'll give them their due.
Miami Northwestern came into the Champ Game averaging a staggering 57 points in the playoffs including putting 50 on Miami Central in that blowout.
Miami Northwestern could barely score 22 vs Raines, but yeah > you talk about a damn missed tackle!

Bixby would beat Raines.

Raines didn't look good at all. This was a mistake filled game and the ending was a perfect example of how Northwestern played that night.
TOD at the Raines 3
Fumble at the Raines 1
Punt return fumble at the Raines 30
Interception at midfield
Just sloppy
Case closed!!
Next.

Northwestern had a terrible schedule. Aside from Central and Lutheran who did they play?
Lutheran held them to 15 points.

Well, it WAS a major upset, so some of that is to be expected. But, Raines did get screwed in the second half when a 3rd and long pass was ruled complete for MNW despite the WR landing 2-3 yards out of bounds. And Raines turned it over deep in MNW territory as well. Lastly, the game was played in MNW's backyard, and that had to count for something.
In all, sure, MNW is likely the better team. But, not by anywhere near the margin many assumed. Congratulations to Raines on the title!

Raines won, but they didn't look good.

They're a fiarly typical/traditional state champ for Florida. Not beautiful to watch, but fast and nasty. And those traits would make them difficult for most anyone to beat. Most all of the teams that look prettier or more sophisticated are also going to be at a large disadvantage in speed, quickness and nastiness. They belong in the national top 20 for sure.

No they don't. That's the Florida bias in you talking.
