Title: IMG vs. The First Academy
Post by: DreadnaughtAlum on Aug 14, 2025, 05:36 PM
Real game, played for real to win.

IMG leading 13-7 in 2nd quarter.

IMG goes up 20-7. TFA's QB is pretty good, but, given the strength of IMG's defense, he's a clear weak link at the moment.

IMG seems to be doing a better job of keeping things simple, running zone reads and simple hand-offs repeatedly. That's bad news for future IMG opponents. It doesn't look like they're bothering to try to look cute, or be a facsimile of an offense at the upper levels. They're just going with what works. Many coaches' egos are too large to stick with a simple approach that is working.

TFA does get a stop with 2:29 left. IF TFA can stop the IMG run game, the IMG QB will likely serve up some picks to the TFA defense.

It's not a real game. It's the preseason week. I get kids want to win no matter what they are doing, but the game doesn't count and teams tend to be vanilla and not give their week 1 opponent too much. It's just to knock the rust off and get the jitters out.

That being said I do believe IMG would win any week against TFA.

TFA lost too much. And they don't even have a head coach. Suspended for the season. They have some interim volunteer.

So this is a jamboree game and does not count. It was posted it was a real game . Just wondering. I just hope we can play them close for a half.

No Florida team can play a regular season game during the preseason week. It was just a tune up to the season. I'm not saying kids weren't trying to win, I'm just saying the game plan and ability to get in backups is factored in, whereas a regular season game you wouldn't be game planning that.

It was played to win. Complete with a pep rally at the school before. Trollbull813 is the only person still claiming otherwise. But, because he's so ubiquitous online, his sentiments are all over the place.

Let me guess: Two schools who recruit nationally and can not play in any playoff- at all-  just played a full game to, you know, like, get ready for the playoffs? Two teams not in any district/conference/league are just getting ready for, you know, like, league play?

You're just mediocre as a troll. What do you surmise either team was getting ready or saving up for?

Both recruit nationally and are relatively close to each other as they may sometimes compete for the same recruits. They both played 100% to win, and this is obvious to anyone who watched the game. Literally NOBODY is saying otherwise...except for Trollbull813.

you sound like a dramatic tween who can't go to the Taylor Swift concert. What I said was it was a preseason game that doesn't count in the record books, and teams gameplan differently for a preseason game than a regular season one. You open up the playbook. See what's works. What doesn't. Rotate a bunch of guys. Get everyone to knock the jitters out of them. Get ready for when it's real and counts.

I'm not saying kids and coaches go into preseason games to lose, I'm saying don't too much stock into week zero games. For anyone

Teams play REGULAR SEASON games differently than the playoffs. SJB and Mater Dei play twice nearly every season, and both play the first game a bit differently. Yet, no one casts doubt on the legitimacy of those games. I had to get lucky to get a ticket to one of those games. I can promise you no one- players, coaches, fans or writers- was thinking "hey, the teams may have a different game plan tonight than in the playoffs. I guess we shouldn't pay much attention to the game.:" That's stupid.

And you have to know folks here from other states- who've never watched a second of any of the games in question- genuinely believe these games are akin to NFL preseason games and/or the sorts of scrimmages where things like bltizing might not be allowed, or special teams aren't live, or coaches are on the field behind the LOS etc. These people actually think that way.  ::)
