Title: Louisiana D! Select Playoffs and Other Playoff News.
Post by: Redzone on Nov 18, 2025, 07:22 AM
Round 2
I'll keep all the Louisiana playoff action in this thread

My Rummel Raiders will make the 3 hour trip to the Alexandria Metro and face the Tioga Indians.
Tioga is (9-2), #34 Louisiana.

I can't remember Rummel ever playing Tioga. I'll have to check.

Tioga has some really nice stuff though.
Their stadium holds 6000, they have a indoor football facility and are currently building a $10 million dollar state of the art field house  👇

I guess I'll pack up the clan and we will make this trip

Another D1 Select matchup.

John Curtis has a Round 2 matchup with St Thomas More (aka STM) from Lafayette....STM is (7-3), #21 Louisiana.

That should be an interesting game in NOLA
STM has a really good QB committed to Virginia Tech

Says the guy that attempts to rank 100 High School Football teams every week from a lazy boy chair.

The Louisiana High School football playoffs are some of the best in the nation.

Solid teams, tremendous talent, nice crowds and tremendous atmosphere.

It's all about reaching the Superdome!

There is 9 classes for 250 teams or less. That's one of the worst in the nation. Tennessee has 9 classes with 350 teams for example.

And with Louisiana only having one maybe two teams in the national top 100-150, and maybe 4-5 in the national top 500, then by definition there can not be any good football being played in the Louisiana playoffs.

If you're lucky, the best class might have a national top 100 vs a national top 200 game but that's as good as it's gonna get:

The rest looks like a donkey banging a pencil sharpener

Probably never.

Tioga is a 4A school that is apparently playing up.  I guess Tioga has a magnet/open-enrollment similar to Captain Shreve to be playing in the selects.

Louisiana has 4 Private brackets and 4 Public brackets.

5A D1 Select/Private bracket has 24 teams seeded by Power Points.

5A Public bracket has 28 teams seeded by Power Points.

Everyone's favorite poodle pet Bixby, OK plays in a measly 6A 12 team playoff and they're going for their 8th straight state championship.

Can you imagine West Monroe playing in a skimpy 12 team playoff and getting a first round bye on top of that?
West Monroe might could win a State Championship. 🤠

Just kidding, Good Luck to the Rebels this year!

Tioga is a strange animal. I really don't know what their deal is. Something about them makes Select and why they play up I don't know.

Anyways,

Longview vs DeSoto
Rockwall Heath vs Duncanville
Ridge Point vs North Shore

Need to get that Texas Round 2 6A Playoff Thread happening.

Rapides Parish is open enrollment so same reason ASH and Pineville end up Select.  Tioga ends up in D1 because in the playoffs schools are divided into 4 divisions vs 5 classes.  Their enrollment has them at the top of 4A and those schools at the top end up as the bottom D1 schools for the playoffs

Rebs have to be laser focused on Barbe this week or their playoff run will come to and end.  As you know there is no love loss between Barbe and West Monroe due to the baseball rivalry and the players that play both sports like Barbe's outstanding RB.  There is too much chatter about the possible rematch with Neville and that is concerning.  Your Raiders should have no problem with Tioga

5A Public shocker ....
#26 Seed Barbe barely qualified for the playoffs, but has pulled off back-to-back upsets.

.....taking out #7 Seed Northwood-Shreveport and #10 Seed West Monroe tonight.

The D1 Select Quarterfinals are set.

Edna Karr vs Evangel Christian
Catholic Baton Rouge vs Alexandria

St Aug. vs Archbishop Rummel
John Curtis vs Teurlings Catholic

Show me where I said Monroe Neville was down?

I said Monroe Neville was severely banged up which they were....... especially on the OL. I even posted the article about it, but you don't read anything.

If Barbe beats Monroe Neville there's something terribly wrong.

Barbe is a National Powerhouse in baseball winning 3 Myth National Championships.
In football?..... slightly better than average some years.

Barbe was 5-5 and #70 in Louisiana when the 5A playoffs started. They were one of the last teams that qualified for the 5A Public playoffs.....#26 Seed out of 28 Seeds.

Quote from: Redzone on Oct 12, 2025, 12:50 PMGaybob813 is so gay........

Monroe Neville is barely a Top 10 5A In Louisiana.
They had some hype, but turned out to be like Clemson after losing some key players.

Monroe Neville is very fortunate not to have 4 losses already this year.
They  barely beat Evangel Christian 33-32  Week 1 giving up a zillion yards

Lost to Oak Grove, MS
Lost to St Thomas More, La
And had to come from behind to beat 3A Sterlington, La...... Of course Sterlington is currently #1 this year in 3A though. 👇

My best guess is Monroe Neville will lose 5 or 6 games this year....... truly not that big a deal either way.

They'll be in the semis again is what you're saying now.

This post above is your way of saying they're not the same team and downplaying their loss vs a Mississippi team.

Barbe just beat West Monroe.

And played one of your powers (2023 finalist)Acadiana to a 7 point game.

Let's use your spin and say, Barbe has to 2 losses by a combined 12 points.  They could easily be 9-3 right now.

Only you care about the Mississippi loss because you have nothing else.

Monroe Neville had some hype like I said. Do to the injuries or whatever it never really panned out, but they could still make the semis and even win state. Who cares? > only North Louisiana public school fans and one goober in California.

Think about this....

St Thomas More clubbed Monroe Neville this year 27-22.
John Curtis put a running clock on St Thomas More last week 49-7.

St Thomas More is obviously not very strong this year. John Curtis crushed them like a bug

It's crazy really.
Barbe's best football player is a LSU Tiger baseball commit.....RB Jordin Griffin.
Griffin is the #7 rated baseball prospect in the 2027 class.
Griffin committed to LSU in the 8th grade.

He's a hell of a RB too. He has run all over Northwood Shreveport and West Monroe in the playoffs.

Per @Steeler01
(9-2) Evangel Christian could be 11-0.

They lost to Monroe Neville 33-32. Monroe Neville blocked a chip shot field goal with 11 seconds left for the win Week 1..

They lost to #1 2A Lafayette Christian Academy 24-22.

(11-0) Edna Karr vs (9-2) Evangel Christian in NOLA
Edna Karr ranked #1 in Louisiana.
Evangel Christian ranked #11 in Louisiana.

Evangel Christian has some really nice looking athletes including 4* QB Peyton "Pop" Houston who is committed to LSU in the 2027 class. Houston is ranked the #7 QB nationally.

Can't remember these two ever playing.

That all said.
Prediction: Edna Karr by 5 or 6 TDs .🤠 Ha!

my 2 cents, Barbe beating Northwood was definitely not a shocker... they are basically a 4A school playing in the 5A playoffs.  Barbe beating WM was definitely a little shocking but there were several factors and we still almost pulled it out.  Think WM definitely got caught looking ahead to a possible rematch with Neville and didn't take the #26 seed seriously enough.  Their RB Griffin is special, kinda a Darren Sproles like RB, short and you lose him in traffic cause they use a lot of motion and misdirection and he finds the hole very well.  Very hard to tackle due to his stature and once he has a step he's gone with his speed.  Barbe also gained a transfer mid season in Hamilton Christian's (10-0) best wide receiver Chris Rideau.  They run the ball then catch you napping and hit Rideau.  All that being said, we turned the ball over on our 1st 2 possessions and Barbe quickly scored to take a 21-0 lead.  We also lost our power back Ponti (possible broken leg) and still managed to hang the rest of the way.  If Neville is healthy and plays a clean game they should have no trouble with Barbe

It's been almost a decade since Barbe won 2 playoff games.
I'm pulling for Barbe to win the 5A Public State Championship. That would be a hell of a story.

That RB for Barbe Jordin Griffin is a hell of an athlete. I watched some of his baseball highlights last night and LSU is getting a great one. Griffin may have the quickest bat I've ever seen on a high schooler.

I wonder if Lane Kiffin will ask him to come out for football??? 🤠

I think the team in D1NS to keep an eye on is Ouachita, they are sneaky good.  Their only losses all came in District 2-5A play and they could have won all of those games...

(9-2) Evangel Christian could be 11-0.
They lost to Monroe Neville 33-32 in the last minute Week 1.

The real question is, could any of them beat Bixby?

Quote from: Redzone on Nov 23, 2025, 11:01 PMI don't even know what this means either.

Barbe could be whatever you want them to be. It's your internet!

Facts are Barbe was 5-5 and barely qualified for the Louisiana 5A public playoffs.
They have pulled off 2 shockers. A #26 Seed has never won a state championship in Louisiana. I'm pulling for the Barbe Buccaneers.

I've heard Neville could have 4 losses just like we've heard you say the same thing about 2003 ECA thousands of times.

Once we flip the script,  you don't know what anyone is talking about.  To funny

I doubt it
I read Bixby beat Jenks this year.

No one in the nation wants any of that Bixby smoke!

There's no script to flip

The only reason Monroe Neville beat Evangel Christian 33-32 is they blocked a chip shot field goal with 11 seconds left in the game.

Evangel was up big in that game, but then fumbled on their five (Neville TD) and then they gave up a punt return for a TD..

Monroe Neville was very fortunate to win that game.

Edna Karr has moved up to #8 at MaxPreps....... their highest Maxpreps ranking in school history.

Grayson takes over the #1 spot.

How many times over the years have we heard about 2003 ECA could've had 6 or 7 losses from you?

Just like 2025 Barbe could have 2 less losses. Of course your logic,  doesn't make sense to you here.

I've never in my life said 2003 Evangel Christian could have had 6 or 7 losses. You're just making that up.

I never needed to say anything like that or even think it. Hell, Evangel had 4 losses and was lucky to beat Rockhurst, Missouri 20-19 in 2003

I did say that 2003 Evangel Christian team should have never made it to the state championship game........Rummel lost to Evangel Christian 7-5 in the 2nd round. 🤠

Neville 42 Barbe 0

Neville semifinalists again.  But they're not the same team according to RZ.
