Top ten teams all remain this week, but some shuffling in the order after Elder's statement win over Moeller.
1. Archbishop Hoban (5-1) (previously #3, idle): Despite being off this past week on a bye, my preseason #1 team regains their spot by virtue of the Moeller loss. Elder certainly has a strong claim to this spot with their undefeated record and consecutive wins over GCL rivals X and Moeller, but I have a hard time looking past all the talent Hoban has (even if their coach never seems to implement it right). Tim Tyrrell said they set the schedule up this year to have a bye after playing rival Walsh Jesuit before taking on Glenville. We'll see if the week off brought them down from the high of a rivalry win to refocus on the next opponent. 10/10 v. Glenville.
2. Elder (7-0) (previously #9, beat Moeller 24-16): Elder clinched the GCL-S title with the win over Moeller and proved its defense is for real in holding an explosive Crusader offense to 16 points. While not an offensive juggernaut this year, Elder's scheme under Ramsey is always a nightmare to deal with defensively as they sustain long, clock-eating drives with their short pass game and RPO's. I'd like to see if they can remain focused the next few weeks with three OOS opponents to close the year out. 10/10 v. Highlands (KY).

St. Edward (6-1) (previously #3, beat St. Ignatius 45-31): I contemplated dropping the Eagles down with concerns about their undersized defensive front seven and a closer than expected final score against Ignatius, but kept them at #3 for now. Despite the 14 point final difference Ed's was thoroughly in control the whole night and could score at will. They led 45-17 late in the fourth and were driving for a running-clock score before a fumble gave the Wildcats the ball back. They would score twice more (including a deep TD pass as time was about to run out) against a defense that was rotating in the backups. Poor special teams kick coverage gave Ignatius very advantageous field position all night. The Eagles are not a finished product defensively (and quite frankly, may never be), but they have three big games left to show if they have what it takes to bring home the hardware again in D1. Next up is a Clarkson North football team that has the size and talent to play spoiler as they proved against Massillon a few weeks ago. 10/10 v. Clarkson North (ON).

I was hoping for a battle of undefeateds but UA laid a clunker against O-Lib over the weekend to drop to 6-1. UA will need to slow this game down and keep the Orange offense on the sidelines in order to win this one, which they are certainly capable of doing. 10/10 at Upper Arlington.

What would have been a very big game against Ursuline this week had to be cancelled in light of Ursuline terminating their season amidst a nasty hazing scandal, so they will be idle.
7. Anderson (7-0) (previously #6, beat Turpin 58-16): The only game left in Anderson's regular season that matters is next weekend against Winton Woods. I believe this team may in fact be far better than 7th in the state, but who you play matters. 10/10 v. Walnut Hills.
8. Avon (6-1) (previously #7, beat Midview 52-0): Avon has been rolling since the Florida trip and seems to have found their groove as the playoffs approach, which will once again make them the prohibitive R6 favorite with a chance to repeat in D2. 10/10 @ Amherst.

Bishop Watterson (7-0) (previously #8, idle): The last threat on their schedule is this week against Bishop Hartley, but it's hard to think Hartley is that much of a threat after getting their doors blown off by Walsh. For comparison's sake, I'll be interested in what this final score is. 10/10 v. Bishop Hartley.
10. Glenville (4-2) (previously #10, idle): The glorified scrimmage that was to take place this past weekend against East Tech was cancelled. Not sure why, but it's quite possible East Tech did not have enough players available/eligible to take the field. The game wouldn't have done anything to prepare them for this week against Hoban, but we'll see if there is any rust to knock off in the early going. This is Glenville's last chance to prove it is a Top 10 Ohio team. There will be a lot of talent on display this weekend in Akron. 10/10 @ Hoban.

That's crazy. Massillon won handily. They didn't have to do that. I would have thought St Augustine LA would have done that considering Ritter was dog walking them 30-14 in the 4th quarter before Ritter got thrown out of the Missouri Division 5 playoffs.

If you wanna get technical, you responded to me first in last weeks Ohio thread, stalker. I was just giving props to Massillon on the bounce back win. They beat a decent Ritter team who just last year with the same team and same ranking beat the living tar out of St Augustine LA in Louisiana. Game was 30-14 in the 4th with the Ritter backups enjoying some good gumbo and denting in St Aug starters.

Last year Ritter won 36-20 in Louisiana. It was 30-14 between the varsity squads. Game ended with Ritter's 2nd string in. Which means St Aug's varsity beat Ritter's JV team 7-6. LMAO!!!!!!
